Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 16th November, 1910.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermentioned applications for Letters Patent have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time within two months from the date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

The copies of claims and extracts from the specifications and drawings are merely intended to give some further indication of the invention than is disclosed in the title, and the complete specifications and drawings should be referred to for a description of the invention.


No. 26384.—7th August, 1909.—HILARY QUERTIER, of General Post Office, Christchurch, New Zealand, Engineer. Electrically operated ticket-printing device.*


Extract from Specification.—The invention consists broadly in the employment of printing or impression dies adapted to be engaged by or to engage with a continuously or intermittently fed strip of paper, and in the combination therewith of electrically operated selection mechanism by means of which any particular die or dies may be brought into contact with the paper sheet so as to make an impression thereon. In describing the invention, it will be described in relation to an arrangement of apparatus suitable for use in a restaurant in the giving and recording of orders for the different articles upon a menu, but it will be understood that the same appliances may be adapted with very slight alterations for any other of the purposes before mentioned.

No. 26423.—14th August, 1909.—THOMAS LATHAM, of Gore, New Zealand, Contractor. An improved machine for cleaning and grading seed.*


Claims.—(1.) In a machine for treating grain, means for submitting the grain to an initial screening and [or] hummeling process, then, while passing over riddles, to the action of a blast or blasts of air to remove the dust and light grain therefrom, and then for subjecting the residue to a further riddling action to remove sorrel and other matter, and then to a final screening to separate the small from the large grain, substantially as specified. (2.) In means for treating grain such as those claimed in claim 1, means whereby the matter separated from the grain at the different stages of its treatment may be collected and delivered separately from the machine, substantially as specified. (3.) The general arrangement, construction, and combination of parts comprising my improved machine for cleaning and grading seed, substantially as described and explained, and for the several purposes set forth.

Extract from Specification.—This invention relates to improved means for use in displaying advertisements and like matter, and relates to improvements in that class of means in which an endless travelling band, having the advertisements thereon, is caused to travel along behind a glass front so that the advertisements on the band will be displayed in regular order through such glass. The invention consists in an improved manner of mounting and operating the band either to travel continuously in the one direction or to reverse its travel automatically at adjustable fixed periods, and in an improved construction of band to enable the advertisements being changed with ease and quickly.
