Run 339G: Altitude, from 2,000 ft. to 5,000 ft. Open, undulating, pastoral country, covered with good tussock. Steep, rocky faces towards Fraser River. Access by unformed road, five miles and a half from Hawksburn Station, which is six miles and a half by dray-road from Clyde. The valuation for improvements is £72 13s. 6d., made up as follows: Half boundary-fence with Run 339D, 153 chains at 9s. 6d. per chain.

Run 325D: Altitude, 700 ft. to 3,600 ft. Open, broken, pastoral land. Good tussock country above 2,000 ft. Lower country rather bare and shingly. The east boundary fronts Clutha River. Access by dray-road, four miles from Clyde, and then half a mile along Bannockburn Creek. The valuation for improvements is £209 9s. 3d., made up as follows: Half boundary-fence along Bannockburn Creek with Run 330B, 93 chains at 6s. 6d. per chain, £30 4s. 6d.; half boundary-fence with Run 330A, 12½ chains at 6s. 6d. per chain, £4 1s. 3d.; half boundary-fence with Run 339D, 49 chains at 6s. 6d. per chain, £15 18s. 6d.; fence on Earnscleugh boundary (half value of fence and full value of wire netting), 490 chains at 6s. 6d. per chain, £159 5s.

Run 354A: Altitude, from 1,100 ft. to 6,800 ft. Open, broken, pastoral land. Good tussock country for greater part of the run. Fronts Nevis River on east boundary and Lake Wakatipu on west boundary. Covered with bracken (amongst which is good grass) for about three-quarters of a mile from the lake. Few clumps of bush in the gullies. Distant about twenty miles from Garston by dray-road and four miles from Kingston along Lake Wakatipu. The valuation for improvements is £126 1s. 6d. The improvements consist of 290 chains internal fences, yards, and buildings.

Run 354B: Altitude, from 1,100 ft. to 6,000 ft. Open, broken, pastoral land. Towards Lake Wakatipu are rather steep slopes, which are covered for about a mile from the lake with bracken, amongst which is good grass. The remainder is good tussock country. Undulating slopes towards Nevis River carry good tussock and snow-grass. This run fronts Nevis River on east boundary and Lake Wakatipu on west boundary. Access by dray-road, seventeen miles from Garston, and along Lake Wakatipu, one mile from Kingston. The valuation for improvements is £96 10s. The improvements consist of 320 chains internal fencing, and 66 chains of half boundary-fencing with Run 323A.

DESCRIPTIONS OF MORVEN HILLS RUNS.

Run 236: Locally known as “Timaru Run.” Purely pastoral country. Poor homestead-site at Timaru Creek. About 5,000 acres facing the creek is safe country, which will carry a proportion of ewes. Distant about five miles from Hawea Flat Post-office. The valuation for improvements is £92 5s., made up as follows: Fencing on half boundary with Run 235A, 80 chains at 3s. 6d. per chain, £14; fencing on half south-east boundary with Run 236B, 230 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £63 5s.; hut on Breast Creek, £15.

Run 236A: Locally known as “Grandview Creek Run.” Pastoral land, with a poor homestead-site; safe country; will carry a proportion of ewes. Distant about three miles from Hawea Flat. The valuation for improvements is £46 15s., made up as follows: Fencing on half part of south boundary from Trig. J to corner of Drake’s section, 80 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £22; all part of south boundary-fence opposite Drake’s section, 90 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £24 15s.

Run 236B: Locally known as “Forest Range.” Purely pastoral country, cold and not fit for ewes; mostly south-easterly aspect; unsafe in winter; some fair land faces the main road; contains fairly good homestead-site. Distant about sixteen miles from Tarras. The valuation for improvements is £81 5s., made up as follows: Fence on half north-west boundary with Run 236, 230 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £63 5s.; subdivisional fencing, 80 chains at 4s. 6d. per chain, £18.

Run 238L: Known locally as “Bendigo Run.” Good, safe ewe-country; fair site for homestead on Bendigo Creek. Surrounds Bendigo Township. The valuation for fencing is £81 15s., made up as follows: Half part of south-west boundary, 90 chains at 4s. per chain, £18; half mountain-top boundary, 110 chains at 5s. per chain, £27 10s.; subdivisional fencing, 290 chains at 2s. 6d. per chain, £36 5s.

Run 238M: Locally known as “Devil’s Creek Run.” Good country in watershed of Green Valley; river frontage very broken; main top cold and unsafe; will carry ewes and dry sheep; site for homestead facing Lindis River.

Distant about three miles from Lowburn Ferry. The valuation for fencing is £115 1s. 6d., made up as follows: Half part of north-east boundary, 90 chains at 4s. per chain, £18; half mountain-top boundary, 85 chains at 5s. per chain, £21 5s.; half southern boundary with Logan’s Run, 337 chains at 4s. 6d. per chain, £75 16s. 6d.

Pastoral Runs in Southland Land District liable to Forfeiture.

PURSUANT to section 251 of “The Land Act, 1908,” notice is hereby given to the licensee of the under-mentioned pastoral runs that the licenses thereof are liable to forfeiture, and that if the rent overdue on the said runs, together with the penalty for non-payment at due date, be not paid within three months from the date hereof the licenses will be forfeited.
