Valuations for improvements are correct in the majority of instances, but in some cases are liable to slight alteration. The correct valuations will be announced at the ballot if any alterations should be found necessary. Boundaries and areas may also be altered slightly.

DESCRIPTION OF RUNS.

Run 236c: Known locally as “Hospital Creek Block.” Purely pastoral country, with fairly safe faces; capable of carrying a proportion of ewes; poor homestead-site at mouth of Hospital Creek. Distant about half a mile from Hawea Flat. The valuation for improvements is £22, made up as follows: Fencing on half part of north boundary from Trig. J to corner of Drake’s section, 80 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain.

Run 236d: Known locally as “Ram Valley Block.” Pastoral country, with good homestead-site; at mouth of creek is some fair land that could be ploughed; mostly south-easterly aspect; would run a proportion of ewes. Distant about thirteen miles from Tarras. The valuation for improvements is £39 17s. 6d., made up as follows: Fencing on half south boundary with Runs 236g, 236h, and 236i, 145 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain.

Run 236f: Known locally as “Sandy Point Run.” Purely pastoral country, with fairly safe facings; could carry mixed sheep; homestead-site not good. Distant about seven miles from Tarras. The valuation for fencing is £43 13s. 6d., made up as follows: On half part of north boundary, 77 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £21 3s. 6d.; subdivisional from Trig. E to west boundary, 180 chains at 2s. 6d. per chain, £22 10s.

Run 236g: Known locally as “Deep Creek Run.” A good run, with a fair area of ploughable land fronting the road; good sites for homestead; north facings safe, and south facings well grassed; will carry mixed sheep. Distant about three miles from Tarras. The valuation for fencing is £25 7s. 6d., made up as follows: On half north boundary, 65 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £17 17s. 6d.; on half south boundary with Section 9, Block XIII, Tarras District, 12 chains at 12s. 6d. per chain, £7 10s.

Run 236i: Known locally as “Lindis Run.” Distant about nine miles from Tarras. The valuation for fencing is £16 6s., made up as follows: On half part of north boundary, 32 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £8 16s.; round small paddock near Nine-mile Creek, £7 10s. Pastoral country, with good homestead-site.

Runs 236k and 236l: Known locally as “Downs Block.” A considerable area is fairly good farming land. Distant about three miles from Tarras. No improvements. Good homestead-sites.

Runs 236n and 236o: Known as “Ram Terraces.” Low, terrace land; part ploughable; carry mixed sheep. Situated close to Tarras. Homestead-sites. The valuation for improvements is £223 11s. 6d., made up as follows: Fencing on half north-east boundary with Run 236m, 127 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £47 12s. 6d.; all part of south boundary-fence near river, 80 chains at 5s. per chain, £20; boundary-fence between Runs 236n and 236o, 50 chains at 5s. per chain, £12 10s.; half boundary-fence with Section 13, Block XIII, Tarras District, 26 chains at 12s. 6d. per chain, £16 5s.; subdivisional fencing on Run 236n, 108 chains at 3s. per chain, £16 4s.; fencing on north road-line boundary, 80 chains at 9s. per chain, £36; subdivisional fencing on Run 236o, 200 chains at 5s. per chain, £50; hut (cob walls and iron roof), £25.

Run 236p: Similar to Runs 236n and 236o. The valuation for fencing is £73 16s., made up as follows: All north-west boundary, 112 chains at 9s. per chain, £50 8s.; part of river boundary, 60 chains at 5s. per chain, £15; subdivisional, 56 chains at 3s. per chain, £8 8s.

Run 236q: Also similar to Runs 236n and 236o. The valuation for fencing is £121 15s., made up as follows: All north-west boundary, 60 chains at 9s. per chain, £27; subdivisional, 94 chains at 7s. 6d. per chain, £35 5s., and 340 chains at 3s. 6d. per chain, £59 10s.

Runs 236r and 236t are known locally as “Bowman’s Flat.” Mostly light, shingly flats. Distant about two miles from Tarras. There are no improvements on these runs.

Run 238k: Known locally as “Ardgour Run.” Good, safe, lambing country. Distant about five miles and a half from Tarras. The valuation for improvements is £106, made up as follows: Fencing on half north-east boundary with Run 238j, 260 chains at 4s. per chain, £52; half mountain-top boundary-fence with Matakauui runs, 100 chains at 5s. per chain, £25; half west boundary-fence with homestead block and Cameron’s sections, 92 chains at 2s. 6d. per chain, £11 10s.; two short subdivisional fences near Ardgour pastoral runs, 50 chains at 3s. per chain, £7 10s.; old hut and yards, £10.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for lease, and applications will be received at this office, and at the Courthouse, Cromwell, on Monday, the 21st day of February, 1910, up to 4 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Run 236e: Locally known as “Eight-mile Creek Block.” Purely pastoral country, with fair homestead-site; will carry mixed sheep; fairly safe if sheep kept on good front faces. Distant about a mile and a half from Hawea Flat. The valuation for improvements is £47 8s. 6d., made up as follows: Fencing on half part of south boundary, 77 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £21 3s. 6d.; half part of boundary-fence with Section 21, Block VII, Lower Hawea District (netted), 35 chains at 15s. per chain, £26 5s.

Run 236h: Locally known as “Lindis Peak Run.” A good run, containing a considerable area of ploughable land; good homestead-site at Archer’s Creek; northern faces safe, and southern faces very well grassed; will carry mixed sheep. Distant three miles from Tarras. The valuation for fencing is £49 16s., made up as follows: On half north boundary with Run 236d, 72 chains at 5s. 6d. per chain, £19 16s.; on half south boundary with Sections 9, 10, and 11, Block XIII, Tarras District, 48 chains at 12s. 6d. per chain, £30.

Run 236j: Known locally as “Long Gully Run.” Pastoral country, with some fair land fit for ploughing at foot of hills; safe country if sheep kept out of basin of Long Gully Creek; will carry mixed sheep. Distant about four miles from Tarras. The fencing is valued at £15 15s., and comprises 21 chains (netted) at 15s. per chain on south boundary with Collings.

Run 236s: Known locally as “Bowman’s Flat.” Mostly light, shingly flats. Distant about two miles from Tarras. There are no improvements on this run.

Run 236u: Locally known as “Point Run.” Safe country, but somewhat bare in parts; good frontage to Lindis River; mostly north-west slopes; contains good homestead-sites. Distant about two miles from Tarras. The valuation for fencing is £128 5s. 6d., made up as follows: Half part of boundary with Matakauui runs, 28 chains at 5s. per chain, £7; half north boundary with Run 237f, 185 chains at 4s. 6d. per chain, £41 12s. 6d.; half boundary with Dalgety’s block, 118 chains at 13s. 6d. per chain, £79 13s.
