(2.) Every holder of duty-paid “Methylated spirit W.P.” shall provide a room or place of security approved by the Collector for the storage of such spirit under the Crown lock. He shall also enter into a bond with two sufficient sureties, in the form provided, and shall undertake not to sell or dispose of any unmanufactured or partially manufactured product containing “Methylated spirit W.P.”

(3.) Every manufacturer of articles approved under these regulations shall keep a book, in which he shall enter all “Methylated spirit W.P.” received by him immediately on receipt thereof; he shall also, immediately upon delivery from Customs control, enter the quantity of spirit used to dissolve or treat such materials as are enumerated in paragraphs 4 and 5, or such other materials as may from time to time be permitted.

(4.) “Methylated spirit W.P.” for the manufacture of varnishes, lacquers, and polishes shall be mixed with and have in solution, before delivery from Customs control, at least 2 per cent. by weight of either shellac, copal, resin, or other material approved by the Minister. Spirit so treated is not to be delivered until the materials added have had time to come into solution.

(5.) “Methylated spirit W.P.” for the manufacture of veterinary medicines shall be mixed, while under Customs control, with the ingredients approved for such medicines, time being allowed before delivery for solution, percolation, or maceration where necessary.

(6.) Every manufacturer of veterinary medicines made with methylated spirit shall cause each packet containing the same, and every bottle, tin, or other receptacle filled upon or delivered from his premises for sale, to be distinctly labelled—

“For veterinary use. Made with methylated spirit.”

(7.) The premises of every holder of “Methylated spirit W.P.” shall be open to inspection by an officer of Customs, who shall be permitted to examine the book referred to in paragraph (3), and to check the balances shown therein with the stock of methylated spirit in hand.

  1. One shilling and sixpence per hour will be charged for the services of an officer of Customs when such services are required to supervise the manufacture or delivery of methylated spirit, “finish,” or veterinary medicines.

  2. Every person who commits any breach of these regulations shall, except as otherwise provided for under “The Customs Law Act, 1908,” be liable to a penalty not exceeding £20.

Greymouth Borough Council's Abattoir made available for the Purposes of Part of Grey County.—Notice No. 1347.

IN pursuance of section 16, subsection (a), of “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908,” it is hereby notified that the abattoir established by the Greymouth Borough Council for the District of the Borough of Greymouth has been made available for the purposes of the district comprising part of the Grey County described in the Schedule hereto, and that the Greymouth Borough Council is the controlling authority of the said abattoir.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the Waematuku or Seven-mile Creek from the sea to its intersection by a right line running from the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 30, Block III, Cobden Survey District, to the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 23; thence by the said right line to the last-mentioned section, and by the north-eastern boundary of that section and the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 26 to the road at its easternmost corner; thence towards the south-east generally by the road forming the south-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 26, 25, 22, and 20, Block III aforesaid, to the junction of roads at the north-eastern corner of Section No. 198, Block V, Cobden Survey District; thence by the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 198 and 200, the road forming the southern boundaries of Sections Nos. 200, 199, and 123, and the road forming the eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 84, 83, 82, 81, 70, 65, 46, 209, 220, 10, 25, and 43, Block V aforesaid, and the western side of that road produced to the middle of the Grey River; thence by a line along the middle of the Grey River to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Native Reserve No. 31; thence by a right line to and by the said south-eastern boundary-line, the abutment of Town Belt North, by the road known as Town Belt East, and by the Greymouth-Marsden Road to Nelson Creek; thence towards the south generally by Nelson Creek to the sea; and thence towards the west generally by the sea to the place of commencement.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the under-mentioned local authorities have, by special order, declared the plants enumerated opposite each to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1908,” in the district under the jurisdiction of each respectively:—
