Notice respecting Proposed Alteration in Boundaries of Borough of Wanganui.

Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 12th November, 1909.

PURSUANT to section 118 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that a petition in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been presented to him, praying that the said area may be excluded from the County of Waitotara and included in the Borough of Wanganui. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to, or petitions against, the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 54, 53, 52, 51, and 50, Block III, Westmere Survey District, from the easternmost corner of Section No. 248 to the north-western corner of Section No. 31; thence towards the east by Section No. 31, Block III aforesaid, and the production of the western boundary-line of that section to the Wanganui River; thence towards the south and south-east by the Wanganui River to the Borough of Wanganui; thence towards the south-west by the Borough of Wanganui to the north-eastern boundary-line of Original Section No. 18, Block V, Westmere Survey District; thence by that section to its north-eastern corner; and thence towards the north-west generally by Sections Nos. 42, 33, 228, 25A, and 248, Block III aforesaid, to the place of commencement.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Council of the Borough of Roxburgh, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF ROXBURGH.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll taken on the 3rd day of November, 1909, on the proposal of the Corporation of the Roxburgh Council to raise a special loan of £1,000 for the purpose of bringing in a water-race from Laurel Creek for domestic purposes, the estimated cost of same being £600, and to do all things necessary to light the roads, streets, and public places of the borough with electric light, and to supply electric light to the inhabitants thereof, the estimated cost of same being £400, and to make an annual-recurring rate of 6d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in the said borough as security for the interest and sinking fund in connection with such loan—it is not proposed to pay out of the loan-moneys the cost of raising the loan or the first year’s interest of the loan during the construction of the said works—the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 59; against the proposal, 35; informal, 2.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Raglan, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

RAGLAN COUNTY.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £1,900. — Woodleigh Special-rating District.

In pursuance of the provisions of section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” I hereby notify that the following is the result of the poll of ratepayers taken over the Woodleigh Special-rating District on the 6th day of November, 1909, on the proposal to borrow £1,900 for the purpose of forming and metalling the Raglan–Tuakau Main Road and the Bothwell to Woodleigh Road; £950 of this amount to be expended in forming and metalling the Raglan–Tuakau Main Road, and the balance of £950 in forming and metalling the Bothwell to Woodleigh Road; and to levy a special rate of 1d. in the pound within the Special-rating District of Woodleigh as security for such loan, which is for forty-one years at 3½ per cent.: Number of valid votes recorded, 35; for the proposal, 20; against the proposal, 15.

The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being under three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal lost.

Authorising the Laying-off of Whakamakuku Street, in the Town of Waitangi, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of “The Land Act, 1908,” I, Joseph George Ward, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Whakamakuku Street, in the Town of Waitangi, Wellington Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft., instead of 99 ft.
