Land temporarily reserved for a Public Recreation-ground in the Taranaki Land District.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of “The Land Act, 1908,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Taranaki Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for a public recreation-ground.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 166, Egmont Village. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 163, Egmont Village; towards the east by Section No. 167 of the aforesaid village; towards the south by Section No. 169 of the aforesaid village; and towards the west by Collins Street: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 1312A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Removing Restrictions against Alienation of Native Land.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section fourteen of “The Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1903,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act, or in any Crown grant or other instrument of title, the Governor may, on the recommendation of the Board, remove any restriction on the alienation of land owned by Maoris: Provided that the decision of the Governor on any recommendation of the Board shall be given within six months from the date of the receipt of such recommendation:

And whereas the Waikato District Maori Land Board, by a recommendation made and passed by the said Board on the eighteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eight, and received on the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nine, recommended the Governor to remove and revoke the restrictions against alienation contained in the instrument of title of the block of land particularised and set out in the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon and vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities me thereunto enabling, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Waikato District Maori Land Board aforesaid, do hereby remove and revoke the restrictions now existing against the alienation of the said land, so as to permit the same to be sold.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Waihou Survey District, containing 49 acres 3 roods 35 perches, more or less, known as Komata North No. 1A No. 3A South No. 1, and comprised in a partition order of the Native Land Court dated the 19th day of October, 1908, subject to the restriction that the said land shall be “inalienable by sale or mortgage.”

Appointing Member to fill Vacancy on Taumarunui Native Township Council.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS the Taumarunui Native Township is a Native township duly incorporated under “The Native Townships Local Government Act, 1905”:

And whereas a vacancy has arisen in the Council of the said township, and it is expedient that the same should be filled:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section nine of “The Native Townships Local Government Act, 1905,” do hereby appoint Patrick Gavin, Esquire, of Taumarunui, to be a member of the Taumarunui Native Township Council, vice Alexander Smith Laird, Esquire, resigned.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and nine.
