Notice of Request to amend Specification.
Patent Office,
Wellington, 25th August, 1909.
A REQUEST for leave to amend the specification and drawing in respect of the undermentioned application for Letters Patent has been received, and is open to public inspection at this office. Any person may at any time from one month from the date of this Gazette give me notice in writing of opposition to the amendments. Such notice must set forth the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.
No. 15853.—9th January, 1903.—A. Walker and M. W. Marriage. Combustion-chamber and firebox for copper. (F. J. Newberry and A. Walker.) (Advertised in Supplement to New Zealand Gazette, No. 6, of the 23rd January, 1903.)
The nature of the proposed amendments is as follows:—
(1.) To insert the following paragraph, “This object is effected by making the device in parts adapted to be readily combined or joined together,” after the paragraph ending “heated or boiled,” line 5, page 2.
(2.) To strike out the word “But,” line 6, page 2, and the words “will now,” line 7, page 2.
(3.) To strike out the words “contracts in its diameter,” line 12, page 3, and insert instead the words “is contracted”; to strike out the word “round,” line 13, page 3, and insert instead the words “exterior of the curved surface”; and to strike out the words “protruding from the said chamber,” line 15, page 3, and to insert instead the word “thereon.”
(4.) To insert in place of the word “this,” line 16, page 3, the words “The top of the”; in place of the words “has convex outer sides at its top,” lines 16 and 17, page 3, the words “by reference to the drawing is contracted where it joins”; in place of the words “above it,” line 18, page 3, the words “to which it is attached”; and in place of the words “a flange,” line 19, page 3, the words “flanges on the combustion-chamber and firebox respectively.”
(5.) To insert after the paragraph ending “circulate around the same,” line 8, page 4, the following paragraph: “We do not claim separately the ordinary attachments to the combustion-chamber and firebox, such as the spiral circulating-rib, the smoke-discharge hole with a dampered smoke-pipe, the handles, the ashpit hole, the fire-door with stops beneath it, and the firebars, as such attachments in various forms have before been used in portable and other furnaces, and may in fact be modified in our device without affecting the utility of our invention, but.”
(6.) To insert the word “An” in place of the word “The,” line 13, page 4; to insert the words “as a whole” after the word “copper,” line 15, page 4; to strike out all the words from “consisting of” down to “firebars, all,” lines 15 to 25, page 4; and to strike out the word “as,” line 26, page 4.
(7.) In Fig. 1 of the drawings, to alter the letter referring to the protuberances from “Q” to “O.”
The patentees state: “Our reasons for making this amendment are as follow: To define more clearly the scope of the invention, and to remove ambiguity in the specification and to correct the drawing, and to distinguish what is old from what is new.”
