THE following special order, made by the Waiau County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

WAIAU COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
Made on the 24th day of February, 1909; confirmed on the 31st day of March, 1909.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Waiau County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Waiau County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the construction of a traffic-bridge over the Mata River at Puateroku, the said Waiau County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Mata Special Loan District, comprising the lands defined in the Schedule hereto; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 4 per cent. per annum.

WAITOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
Result of Poll on Proposal to borrow £6,000.
NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waitoa Drainage District was taken on the 26th day of June, 1909, upon the following proposal: To borrow from the Minister of Finance, under Part II of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the sum of £6,000 for the purpose of engaging in the following undertaking, viz.:—
(1.) The construction of a drain between Eastport Road and the Waitoa River, discharging into the said river.
(2.) The construction of a drain commencing from the Waitoa River at the mouth of the Ohine Stream, and continuing in a southerly direction through Section 8.
(3.) The construction of a drain along No. 1 Road from the boundary of Crown lands to Section 1 (connecting with promised outlet through Crown land into the Waitoa River).
(4.) The construction of a drain along No. 7 Road from the boundary of Crown lands (connecting with promised outlet into the Piako River) to the southern boundary of Section 59.
(5.) The construction of drains to the west of No. 7 Road, emptying into above outlet through Crown lands and into the Piako River or Waiharakeke Stream.
And on such poll the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal was: For the proposal, 48 votes; against the proposal, 51 votes.
I therefore declare the said proposal to be lost.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £600 for Street-formation Purposes.
Under Section 12 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.” I HEREBY notify that the following is the result of the poll of ratepayers of the Ngaruawahia Town District, taken on the 17th day of July, 1909, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £600 for the purpose of forming and metalling certain streets within the township: Number of valid votes recorded, 56; for the proposal, 31; against the proposal, 25.
The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal not being three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be lost.
