NOTICE OF ALTERATION OF SURNAME.

I, ALEXANDER SMITH, an Officer in the Mercantile Marine, and at present second officer of the steam-ship “Koromiko,” registered at Dunedin, in the Dominion of New Zealand, and for many years past known as “Alexander Coe-Smith,” hereby give notice that by a deed poll dated the 15th day of December, 1908, and filed in the Supreme Court at Wellington on the 17th day of December, 1908, I formally abandoned the surname of “Smith” and adopted the surname of “Coe-Smith,” and declared my intention thenceforth to use, and subscribe, and be known by, the name of “ALEXANDER COE-SMITH” exclusively.

INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

“Motor Regulation Act, 1908.”—Registration of Motors.

IN pursuance with the provisions of Part II of “The Motor Regulation Act, 1908,” public notice is hereby given that the Invercargill Borough Council decided, by resolution passed on the 17th day of December, 1908, that the said Act shall be brought into force in the Borough of Invercargill on the 30th day of January, 1909.

SPECIAL ORDER MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Tauranga Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £12,000, authorised to be raised by the Tauranga Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of constructing and making waterworks, reservoirs, and water-races, and laying mains and connections, and supplying water to the inhabitants of the Borough of Tauranga, and acquiring the necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant, pipes, and property, the said Tauranga Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2s. in the pound upon the annual rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Tauranga, comprising the whole of the said Borough of Tauranga; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 14th day of December, 1908, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 15th day of January, 1909.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Tauranga was affixed to the above-written special order in the presence of—

WE, the undersigned, ARTHUR DEWHURST RILEY and FRANCIS HOLMES, hereby give notice that the Partnership hitherto subsisting between us in the trade or business of Importers and Manufacturers’ Agents, carried on by us in the City of Wellington, under the style or firm of “Riley and Holmes,” has been dissolved as from the 31st day of December, 1908, by mutual consent. All moneys payable to the firm will be received by Mr. Arthur Thomas Clarke, of 197 Lambton Quay, Wellington, Chartered Accountant, who will also pay all liabilities of the late partnership.
