CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Milling timber in Auckland Land District for Sale by Public Tender.

Auckland, 23rd January, 1909.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of “The Land Act, 1908,” and regulations thereunder, that written tenders will be received at this office from the proprietors of existing sawmills, and logging-contractors, up till 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday, the 24th day of February, 1909, for the purchase of the kauri and totara timber standing on the undermentioned Crown land.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

COROMANDEL COUNTY.

Crown Land, Part Block VI, Harataunga Survey District (Moehau 2a No. 1 Block, Kennedy Bay Watershed).

82 GREEN and 15 dry kauri-trees, containing (approximately) 264,329 sup. ft. (standing measurement).

2 totara-trees, containing (approximately) 2,762 sup. ft. (standing measurement).

Distinguishing brand thus: X.

Time for removal: One year.

NOTE.—Trees in the Cabbage Bay watershed are not included in this sale.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relating to their tender.

  2. The aforementioned quantities, quality, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purpose of this sale; and no contract for purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful tenderer be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if for any reason the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated herein.

  3. No tender will be considered wherein a less royalty is offered than 2s. per 100 sup. ft.

  4. The quantities stated are standing measurements.

  5. Should any dispute arise as to boundaries, the decision of the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be final.

  6. In the event of the timber not being disposed of, applications may be received and dealt with at any time within six months from the above date of closing of tenders (unless previously formally withdrawn), provided, however, that the amount offered is not less than the upset price stated herein.

  7. All tenders must be submitted on forms which will be supplied on application to the Postmasters, Coromandel and Cabbage Bay, or the above office, and envelopes enclosing same are to be marked “Tender for Timber,” and addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.

  8. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

TERMS.

Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit of 5 per cent. on the amount of tender, in cash, marked cheque, or post-office order; the balance to be paid, if tender accepted, within fourteen days after date of acceptance, together with the timber-cutting license fee of £1 1s.

Grazing-run in Wellington Land District open for Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned grazing-run is open for lease, and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 24th day of March, 1909, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

LOCALITY AND DESCRIPTION.

Situated on the Mangahoe Road, adjoining the Kaitieke Township Reserve. Distant about nine miles from Raurimu by the Kaitieke Road. About 20 acres of flat or nearly flat land, partly open, but mostly covered with manuka and light bush. The remainder is hilly. The lower slopes are covered with light bush, whilst the gullies and higher land are covered with heavier bush of tawa, tawhero, rimu, matai, kahikatea, miro, hinau, &c., with usual undergrowth. The soil is pumice on flats, and a clay loam on hills and slopes, on a sandstone-and-papa formation. Fairly well watered. Elevation ranges from about 800 ft. to 1,550 ft. above sea-level.
