Changing the Purpose for which Land in Araroa Native Township is vested in His Majesty.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the second section of “The Native Townships Amendment Act, 1903,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the advice and report of the Minister of Native Affairs, as in the said section is provided, do by this notification direct that the land described in the Schedule hereto, which is shown on the plan of Araroa Native Township deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Gisborne, and vested in His Majesty in trust for the Native owners, by virtue of section twelve of “The Native Townships Act, 1895,” shall, from and after the twelfth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine, be changed to the purpose of a site for a post and telegraph office, to be vested in His Majesty, as prescribed by subsection two of the said section; and I do hereby further direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette and Kahiti.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 1 perch, more or less, being Section No. 61 on the plan of Araroa Native Township; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 28640/91, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Auld’s Creek Watershed Reserve.—Certain Provisions of “The Mining Act, 1908,” brought into Operation.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Mining Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette, the provisions of “The Mining Act, 1908,” shall be in force over the public reserve described in the First Schedule hereto on the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto, but so as not to modify, limit, or affect, except as hereinafter mentioned, the notification under my hand with respect to the said reserve dated the twenty-third day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and published in the Gazette of the twenty-fifth day of the same month.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, being Reserve No. 10 (in red), situated in Block II, Waitahu Survey District, and Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, and containing by admeasurement 605 acres, more or less. Commencing at Trig. Station L, in Block II, Waitahu Survey District, and bounded towards the south-west and north-west generally by the summit of the western watershed of Auld’s Creek, through Trig. Station Q, in Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, to the Inangahua River; thence across that river and the road along the right bank thereof to a point on the latter, being about 19 chains distant from the southernmost corner of Section No. 214A of Square 131; again towards the south-west by that road; towards the west by a road-line, by the last-mentioned section, by a line across the Water-race Reserve, and again by the last-mentioned section; towards the north-east by Section No. 210, Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, and by the watershed of the Inangahua River to a point distant about 19 chains from the southernmost corner of that section; thence towards the south-east generally by the summit of the spur leading down to the Inangahua River in the direction of the easternmost corner of Section No. 4, Block XIV, Reefton Survey District, by a right line across that river to the north-west corner of that section, by that section, by a road along the left bank of the said river, by Fitzmaurice’s residence-area, and by Section No. 195 of Square 131 to its westernmost corner; and again towards the north-east and east generally by the summit of the eastern watershed of Auld’s Creek to Trig. Station L, the point of commencement: excepting from the area above described all freehold lands, lands leased from the Crown, land held under mining privileges lawfully granted and in force, reserves, roads, and the bed of the Inangahua River: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 56453, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged in red.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

MINING shall be permitted only in the manner and to the extent specially approved in writing by the Warden, who shall, before giving such approval, obtain the consent in writing thereto of the Inangahua County Council.

Mining shall be limited to the sinking of prospecting shafts and the driving of prospecting tunnels.

No débris of any description shall be deposited in the valley of Auld’s Creek or the valley of any of its tributaries.

All water used in mining or other operations above the intake of the water-race supplying water to the Town of Reefton shall be conveyed by watertight fluming past the said intake.

No person shall be allowed to camp on the reserve above the intake of the said water-race.
-
No horses or cattle shall be allowed on the reserve above the intake of the said water-race.
-
No traffic of any kind, except the carrying of material actually required for authorised mining, shall be allowed over the reserve.

If the Warden is satisfied that any breach of any of the foregoing conditions has been made he may at once cancel any license or other authority to carry on mining within the reserve.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
ROBINA JANE PETERSON,
being a person holding the office of Postmaster under “The Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,” at Half-moon Bay, is authorised to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.”
