Notice by the Public Trustee under Part II of “The Public Trust Office Act, 1908” (Unclaimed Lands).

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 1 acre, more or less, being Allotment No. 326, Section 2, in the Town of Opotiki, in the Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded on the north by Allotment 285, 200 links; on the east by Allotment 325, 500 links; on the south by a road, 200 links; and on the west by Allotment 327, 500 links. The land was Crown-granted to John Beresford, described as a private of the 1st Waikato Militia, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by Part II of “Public Trust Office Act, 1908” (Unclaimed Lands).

Examination for Dredgemasters’ Certificates.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 9th October, 1908.

AN examination of candidates for certificates as dredgemasters, under “The Mining Act, 1908,” will be held on Tuesday, the 30th March, 1909, at Greymouth and Clyde. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary, Board of Examiners under the Mining Act, Wellington,” and must be received on or before the 8th March, 1909. Forms of application may be obtained from Inspectors of Mines, Westport, Reefton, Clyde, and Dunedin.

Examination for Mine-managers’ and Battery Superintendents’ Certificates.

WRITTEN and oral examinations of candidates for certificates as First- and Second-class Mine-managers and Battery Superintendents under “The Mining Act, 1908,” and First- and Second-class Mine-managers under “The Coal-mines Act, 1908,” will be held on Tuesday, the 23rd March, 1909, and following days, at the Thames, Waihi, Reefton, and Dunedin. All applications, with necessary certificates, and fee of £1 by post-office order, should be addressed to “The Secretary, Board of Examiners under the Mining Act [or Coal-mines Act], Wellington,” and must be received on or before the 8th March, 1909. Forms of application may be obtained at any School of Mines, and from Inspectors of Mines.
