Regulations for Hire of Diamond Drills.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 11th June, 1909.

THREE diamond drills, with a boring-capacity of 2,500 ft., 1,500 ft., and 1,000 ft. respectively, are now in the possession of this Department, and may be hired out on the following general conditions:—

(1.) The hirer to take delivery of the plant at any place decided upon by the Minister of Mines.

(2.) The hirer, prior to delivery of the plant, to make a deposit of £50, and to find approved bond and security for the payment of all charges he may become liable for, and also for the due observance of these conditions.

(3.) The plant to be returned in good order and condition, less wear-and-tear, to the Government Store, Wellington.

(4.) Any loss or damage to the plant, other than that due to fair wear-and-tear, to be paid for by the hirer.

(5.) The Superintendent appointed by the Minister shall have sole control of the plant and the workmen employed, and the hirer must comply with his requests re housing and care of the plant.

(6.) The wages of the Superintendent will be paid by the Department in the first instance, but will be recovered monthly from the hirer, and should the repayments not be promptly made they may be recovered from the hirer as liquidated and ascertained damages. The hirer will also pay the cost of all carbons used in boring. All the working-expenses of the plant will be paid by the hirer direct.

(7.) The Minister will take no responsibility for any injury to any workman, or loss of any plant, or damage to any borehole. All such expenses and losses must be borne and made good by the hirer.

(8.) For the purposes of the foregoing conditions, “plant” includes the drill and all the gear and appliances necessary for working the same, also the carbons.

The regulations of 28th November, 1907, are hereby cancelled.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road through Kinohaku West 11b, Section 2a, Block II, Kawhia South Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 11th day of January, 1909, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 13th day of November, 1908.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Road through Karamu Parish, Blocks II and III, Alexandra Survey District, Raglan County.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road through Blocks II and III, Alexandra Survey District, Raglan County—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is further given that the plan of the said road and of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Whatawhata, and is there open for inspection. And notice is also given that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister in Charge of Roads, Wellington.
