Native Land Court Orders

1586 THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE. [No. 47

Order under Section 49 of "The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895."

IN THE NATIVE LAND COURT OF NEW ZEALAND, WELLINGTON DISTRICT.
In the matter of a petition to the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court under 49 of "The Native Land Laws Amend-
ment Act, 1895," to ascertain whether one Wihoru Hoani Niho, whose name appears on succession order dated
the 6th day of July, 1903, as a deceased person in the Huitrangi No. 196 Block, should be known as Matarani Wihoru
Hoani Niho.

WHEREAS the above matter has been referred to the Native Land Court for inquiry and report, and the same has
been fully investigated, and I am satisfied that a Court order for succession purporting to appoint Matarani Wihoru in
Huitrangi No. 196 Block was made in error.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES A. WILSON, certifying the said error, and in exercise of the power in that behalf vested in me
by section 49 aforesaid, I hereby order that the succession order, dated the 6th day of July, 1903, to the interest of Maata
Rewiti (deceased), and by which order Matarani Wihoru Hoani Niho was appointed as her successor, should be, and
is, amended by the name Matarani Rewiti being still alive.

As witness my hand, this 22nd day of May, 1909.
JACKSON PALMER, Chief Judge.

Order under Section 49 of "The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895."

IN THE NATIVE LAND COURT OF NEW ZEALAND, WELLINGTON DISTRICT.
In the matter of a petition to the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court under section 49 of "The Native Land Laws
Amendment Act, 1895," as to whether Retimana Whiwhi is the same person as Karewa Retimana, and also as to who
should succeed to the last-appointed owner of all interests of Retimana Whiwhi (deceased) in the subdivisions of the Horowhenua
No. 11 Block (Kumutoto).

WHEREAS the above matter has been referred to the Native Land Court for inquiry and report, and the same has
been duly reported on. And whereas it appears that the words “alias Karewa Retimana” were inserted in the
order of the Native Land Court in Horowhenua No. 11 (Kumutoto) in error, and that Retimana Whiwhi is the true name.

AND WHEREAS it has been proved that the interest of Retimana Whiwhi in the Horowhenua No. 11 Block (Kumutoto) was on
section 39i. I hereby declare that Retimana Whiwhi and Karewa Retimana are two different persons, and that the proper
successors to Retimana Whiwhi (deceased) in the Horowhenua No. 11 Block (Kumutoto) are those who were appointed by order
dated the 25th September, 1908, appointing a successor to Retimana Whiwhi, alias Karewa Retimana, deceased, be
amended by deleting therefrom the words “alias Karewa Retimana,” and to amend order of Native Land Court, dated
the 12th day of September, 1908, awarding compensation for the leasing of Horowhenua Nos. 28 and 56 Blocks (Kumutoto)
for scenic purposes be amended by deleting therefrom the words “alias Karewa Retimana,” and to award the compensation
to the undermentioned persons in the proportions set opposite their respective names :—
