Land taken for a Native School at Kakanui.
PLUNKET, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth day of April, 1909.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a certain public work, to wit, a Native school:
And whereas the Native owners have agreed to make a free gift of the said land to His Majesty the King, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:
And whereas by a partition order made by the Native Land Court, bearing date the twentieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and three, certain aboriginal Natives are declared to be the owners of the Tuhirangi A No. 2 Block, within which the said land is situated:
And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map, and described in the Schedule hereto, is hereby taken for the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken for a public work, to wit, for the purpose of a Native-school site:
And whereas the said land is held or occupied by Native owners, and the title thereto is not derived from the Crown:
And whereas a map of the said land has been prepared in duplicate, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1908”:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the land shown upon such map, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be deemed to be taken for the purposes of the public work hereinbefore mentioned; and the said land shall vest in His Majesty the King as from the second day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Altering the Boundaries of Cook and Wairoa Counties.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth day of April, 1909.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, in exercise of the powers conferred by section sixteen of “The Counties Act, 1908” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), the Cook County Council and the Wairoa County Council respectively did, by an instrument bearing date the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and nine, formally agree that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered to the extent set forth in the said instrument, and also in the Schedule hereto: And whereas it is expedient that such alteration of boundaries be approved by the Governor in Council, and that such altered boundaries be defined in terms of the said Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that, on and after the publication of these presents in the New Zealand Gazette, the boundaries of the Counties of Cook and Wairoa respectively shall be those set forth under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COOK COUNTY.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay and Auckland Land Districts bounded as follows: Commencing at the summit of Mount Maungatapere; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Run No. 47, Wharekopae No. 1b3 and Wharekopae No. 1a Blocks to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned block; thence easterly along the southern boundary of the said No. 1a Block and the Wharekopae Stream to the north-eastern boundary of Subdivision No. 1 of Okahuatiu No. 2 Block; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Okahuatiu and Okahuatiu 1e Blocks to the intersection of the north-western boundary of Pepongaere A Block with the Waikakariki Stream; thence generally easterly along that stream to its confluence with the Waipaca River; thence northerly along the middle of that river to the north-western corner of Section No. 65, Muhunga Block; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 65, 76, 58, 77, 81, 66, 67, 69, and 74, Muhunga Block, to the Waihireere Block; thence easterly along the northern boundary of the last-mentioned block to the westernmost corner of Kopaa-tuaki No. 2 Block; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of that block, Section No. 1, Block X, and Section No. 4, Block XI, Waimata Survey District, to the western corner of Waimata West No. 1 Block; thence northerly along the western boundary of Waimata West No. 2 Block and the western boundary of Section No. 6, Block VII, Waimata Survey District, to the southernmost corner of Section No. 16, Block VII aforesaid; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of that section to the Mangataikehu Stream; thence northerly along that stream to the westernmost corner of Section No. 15A, Block II, Waimata Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of that section, Section No. 15, and the northern boundary of Run No. 60 to the southernmost corner of Run No. 44; thence north-westerly, northerly, and easterly along the south-western, western, and northern boundaries of that run to the western boundary of Run No. 58; thence northerly along the said
