Extending Hour, for closing the Poll of Electors to determine
the Statutory Closing-day for Shops in the Combined
District of Ashburton.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twentieth
day of April, 1909.

PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested
in him by "The Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908,"
His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the hour
at which the poll of the electors to determine the statutory
closing-day for shops in the Ashburton Combined District,
which is being held and taken in that district under "The
Shops and Offices Act, 1908," on the twenty-eighth day of
April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, shall close, to
seven o'clock in the afternoon of that day.

Appointment of Councillors, Borough of Timaru.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by section one
hundred and thirty of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint James
Craigie to be Mayor of the Borough of Timaru, and George
Bowker, Michael Mullin, Tom Hawkey, George John Sealey,
Arthur Oborn, Carl Adolphus Schmidt, James Rothwell,
Herbert Henry Leathwick, John Hayes Parks, Thomas
Lewis Harney, William Chute Raymond, and Thomas Wil-
liam Satterthwaite to be members of the Timaru Borough
Council. Such Mayor and members to remain in office
until the next election of Mayor and Councillors of the said
Borough of Timaru.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and nine.

Opening Land in Otago Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by "The Land Act, 1908," I,
William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described
in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable
lease on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of May,
one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned
in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the
said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions
of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as
it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or
valuable stone.

20 acres is fit for cultivation, the remainder is hilly. Situated
about thirty-five miles from Cromwell. Sale plan 444.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of a
Reserve in the Wellington Land District.

PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves and Domains
Act, 1908," it is, amongst other things, enacted that
the Governor may declare his intention to change or alter
the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested
in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes
named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not ; and if it shall, in the
opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose
of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or pre-
sumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other pur-
pose, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his
intention to make such change, and in such notice declare
the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be
so made :
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in
exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by "The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,"
aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific pur-
pose of the portion of the reserve described in the second
column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first
column of the said Schedule to that named in the third
column of the said Schedule.

PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the fourth section of "The Cemeteries
Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
DONALD Ross and
DONALD McGREGOR
to be Trustees, in the place of Joseph Wagstaff and Richard
Pepperell, to provide for the maintenance and care of the
Opunake Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the Chair-
man of the Opunake Town Board (ex officio), John Guy,
Henry James Newman, and Aubrey Cross, previously ap-
pointed by His Excellency the Governor.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this fifteenth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and nine.
