Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section four of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby except the said land from the operation of section one hundred and seventeen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” for the purpose of alienation by way of mortgage as aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing 96 acres 2 roods 31 perches, more or less, known as Pukehou No. 5, and comprised in a partition order of the Native Land Court dated the 21st day of October, 1907, in favour of Paora Pahi.

Granting Power to borrow under the Provisions of “The University of Otago Leases and Securities Act, 1898.”

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of December, 1908.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago intituled “An Ordinance to incorporate the University of Otago,” it is, among other things, enacted that it shall not be lawful for the said University to alienate, mortgage, charge, or demise any lands, tenements, or hereditaments of which it shall have become seized, or to which it may become entitled by grant, purchase, or otherwise, unless with the approval of the Superintendent and Executive Council of the said province for the time being, except by way of lease for any term not exceeding twenty-one years from the time when such lease shall be made, and in and by such lease there shall be reserved the highest rent that can be reasonably obtained for the lands, tenements, and hereditaments expressed to be thereby demised without fine: And whereas by the operation of “The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,” all the powers and authorities theretofore vested in the Superintendents of Provinces, either alone or with the advice and consent of the Executive Councils thereof, became and are now vested in the Governor: And whereas by section five of “The University of Otago Leases and Securities Act, 1898,” it is enacted that the rents and revenues of the University, derivable as well from its endowments and lands held for special purposes or upon special trusts as from lands not so described or held, may form the security for any loan which it might thereafter with the sanction of the Governor in Council raise: And whereas the Council of the said University is desirous of borrowing a sum not exceeding eleven thousand pounds at interest for the purpose of paying off eleven thousand pounds borrowed by it in terms of an Order in Council dated the seventeenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and six, and which sum will be payable on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and it will be necessary that security shall be given over the property of the University as hereinafter mentioned: And whereas it is expedient that such borrowing should be sanctioned:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the herein-before-in-part-recited Ordinance and Act, and of every power and authority enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of and sanction the borrowing by the said University for the purposes aforesaid, by debentures or otherwise, of a sum not exceeding eleven thousand pounds, to be repaid with interest at a rate not exceeding five pounds per centum per annum, the repayment thereof with interest to be secured, in such manner as the Council of the said University may think fit, by a mortgage or other charge upon the rents and other revenues, or any parts thereof, derived from any endowments, lands, tenements, hereditaments of or vested in the said University.

Vesting a Reserve in the Cambridge Road Board.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of December, 1908.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto has been permanently reserved for a gravel-pit: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient that the said land should be vested in the Cambridge Road Board:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of “The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Cambridge Road Board, in trust, for a gravel-pit.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 96, Parish of Tamahere. Bounded towards the north-east generally by the Mangaomapi Stream; towards the south by a public road, 1085 links; and towards the west by a public road, 1319 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5226/3, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Licensing the Akaroa County Council to use and occupy a Part of the Foreshore of Akaroa Harbour.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of December, 1908.

WHEREAS, there being no Harbour Board empowered to grant the license hereinafter mentioned, the Akaroa County Council (hereinafter called “the Council”) has applied to the Governor in Council for a license under “The Harbours Act, 1908” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), to occupy a part of the foreshore and land below low-water mark of Akaroa Harbour, in order to erect and maintain thereon a wharf; and, in accordance with the one-hundred-and-fiftieth section of the said Act, has deposited plans, in duplicate (two sheets), in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington (marked M.D. 3290), showing the place where it is intended to erect such wharf, the area of foreshore and land below low-water mark intended to be occupied for such purpose, and the manner in which it is proposed to erect the wharf: And whereas it has been made to appear to the Governor in Council that the proposed work will not be or tend to the injury of navigation, and the said plans have, prior to the making of this Order in Council, been approved by the Governor in Council, without modification or addition: And whereas it is expedient that a license under the said Act, for the purpose aforesaid, should be granted and issued to the Council on the terms and conditions hereinafter expressed:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the purpose or object for which the said license is required by the Council as aforesaid; and, in further pursuance and
