Victoria College.--Election of Members of the Council in terms of "The Victoria College Act, 1905."

I HEREBY notify that an election by the Professorial Board of this College was held on the 17th day of February, 1909, to fill a vacancy on the College Council caused by the resignation of Mr. F.H.D. Bell, K.C., and that Mr. Ernest Tancred Dillon Bell was duly elected in his stead. Also that in consequence of the resignation of Mr. F.P. Wilson, M.A., Graduates' Representative on the Council, an election was held on the 17th day of March, 1909, and Mr. Henry Hubert Ostler, LL.B., was duly elected in his stead.

Also that the ordinary annual election of members of the Council has been held, and the following have been elected, viz.: Graduates' Representative, Mr. John Guthrie Wood Aitken, J.P.; Parliamentary Representative, Mr. Charles Wilson; Education Boards' Representative, the Honourable John George Findlay, LL.D., M.L.C.; Teachers' Representative, Mr. Clement Watson, B.A.

Result of Poll for the Northern Maori Electoral District.

IN pursuance of a writ under the hand of Hugh Pollen, Esquire, Clerk of the Writs, a poll was taken on the 20th day of March, 1909, at the several gazetted polling-places, under the provisions of Part IV of 'The Legislature Act, 1908,' for the purpose of the election of a member of Parliament to represent the Northern Maori Electoral District, within the Dominion of New Zealand, in the place and stead of Hone Heke, Esquire, deceased:

And whereas Te Rangihiroa, Esquire, M.B., Ch.B., of Russell, Bay of Islands, in the said Dominion, received the greatest number of votes recorded by such poll:

Now, I do hereby declare the said TE RANGIHIROA, Esquire, M.B., Ch.B., duly elected as a member of the House of Representatives for the said Northern Maori Electorate, within the Dominion aforesaid.

As witness my hand, this 30th day of March, 1909.
