PACIFIC OCEAN.—PHOENIX GROUP.
BIRNIE ISLAND.—The only beacon on this isl. is conical,
corrugated iron, 30 ft. high, surm. by flagstaff 15 ft. high, in
the centre of the isl. (3° 35' S., 171° 323/ W.); those beacons
at present charted should be expunged. Feb.

CAUTION IN APPROACHING GLASGOW WHARF, NAPIER.

THE Napier Harbour Board notify that masters of
vessels coming to wharves within the Breakwater
Harbour are warned to keep clear of buoys, pile-driving
punt, &c., used by the contractor in connection with the
work of enlarging the Glasgow Wharf.

Notice fixing Closing - hours of Drapers' Clothiers', and
Mercers' Shops in the City of Wellington under the
Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the drapers',
clothiers', and mercers' shops in the City of Wellington,
has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops
within the city shall be closed at 9 o'clock in the evening
of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and at 10.30
o'clock in the evening of Saturday : And whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the drapers', clothiers', and mercers' shops, conjointly and separately, in the City of Wellington :
Now, therefore, I, John George Findlay, acting for and
on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of "The Shops and Offices Act, 1908," do hereby
direct that from and after the 13th day of April, 1909, all
drapers', clothiers', and mercers' shops, conjointly and
separately, in the City of Wellington shall be closed in
accordance with such requisition.

Notice fixing Closing - hours of all Shops in the Awarua
Riding, in the Rangitikei County, under the Shops and
Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in the Awarua Riding,
in the Rangitikei County, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the riding shall be closed in the evening
of working-days as follows : Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays,
Fridays at 6 p.m.; Wednesdays at 1 p.m.; Saturdays at
10 p.m.: And whereas the Rangitikei County Council has
certified that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupants of all the shops in the Awarua
Riding:
Now, therefore, I, John George Findlay, acting for and on
behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25
of "The Shops and Offices Act, 1908," do hereby direct that
from and after the 13th day of April, 1909, all shops in the
Awarua Riding, in the Rangitikei County, shall be closed in
accordance with such requisition.
