Otago University Reserve.—Barewood Run.—Provisions of “The Mining Act, 1908,” brought into Operation.

PLUNKET, Governor.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Mining Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the Gazette, the provisions of “The Mining Act, 1908,” shall be in force over that area known as the Barewood Run, being an endowment of the Otago University, and more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Taieri County, in the Land District of Otago, known as Barewood Run, containing by estimation 31,570 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north generally by the Sutton Stream, 31000 links; towards the north-east by the Taieri River, 89000 links; towards the east by the said Taieri River, 20000 links ; towards the south generally by the Deep Stream, 146000 links; and towards the west by part of the Sutton Survey District, 56600 links : excepting out of the above boundaries the portion brought under the provisions of the Mining Act by a Proclamation dated the 26th April, 1890, and appearing in Gazette No. 25, of the 8th May, 1890, page 517; and also excepting that portion taken for the purposes of the Otago Central Railway by a Proclamation dated the 27th of February, 1895, and appearing in Gazette No. 18, 7th March, 1895, pages 437 and 438.
