Death of Member of the House of Representatives for the Northern Maori Electoral District.

WHEREAS the House of Representatives is not now in session, and there is no Speaker of the said House: Now, therefore, pursuant to the provisions of “The Legislature Act, 1908,” His Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that Hone Heke, Esquire, member of the House of Representatives for the Northern Maori Electoral District, died on the 9th day of February, 1909; and that the seat in the House of Representatives for the said electoral district is vacant by reason of such death.

Eastern Lighthouse, South Channel, Port Phillip.
Referring to General Notice to Mariners, dated 1st August, 1907, page 71, mariners and others are hereby notified that the light shown from the Eastern Lighthouse, South Channel, has been increased in brilliancy, therefore distances from the light should not be estimated upon its former intensity.

Harbour Light, Portland Bay.
Referring to General Notice to Mariners, dated 1st August, 1907, page 44, it is hereby notified that on or about the 1st March, 1909, the green harbour light shown from Whaler Point will be altered so as to be visible from seaward between the bearings of N. 50 deg. W. and S. 49 deg. W., consequently the north cutting will be visible about half a mile outside of Minerva Reef.

Masters of vessels, pilots, and others are notified that the s.s. “Clan Ranald,” 2,285 tons, has sunk in about 15 fathoms, approximately one mile off shore near Troubridge Hill. This affects Admiralty Chart 2389A.

Notice is hereby given that a black buoy has been placed to mark the bank off Cemetery Point, and another to mark the bank off Stanhope Point. These buoys are in 24 ft. of water at low tide, and are to be kept on the port side of vessels when proceeding up the river. Chart affected, No. 3090.
Notice is also given that the upper black buoy off the reclamation-works, near Macquarie Point, has been removed. Chart affected, No. 105.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 9th day of August, 1899, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 19th day of January, 1897.
