Opening Land in Taranaki Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains or is supposed to contain metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Situated on Tongaporutu, Mangaroa, and Huhatahi Roads. Access from Mangaroa, six miles by one track, partly dray-road, pack-track, and walking-track, and by another very rough horse-track nine miles. Very steep and broken country; soil fair, papa-and-sandstone formation; covered with fairly heavy forest of rata, tawa, hinau, tawhero, mahoe, a little rimu and kahikatea, and a dense undergrowth. The section is fairly well watered.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Access by open river-beds from end of Wataroa Flat Road—say, eleven miles from Main South Road. Distant about twenty miles from Town of Okarito. Sale plan 90.

Altitude, up to 800 ft. above sea-level. Part easy slopes, and part rough limestone hills. Wholly covered with bush of birch, rata, and red-pine. Fronts Inland Road, which is a formed pack-track. Distant from Greymouth twenty-seven miles, and from Barrytown ten miles. Sale plan 98.
