The sections comprise for the most part flat and undulating land, inclined to be wet in places, but easily drained. All are in heavy standing bush, comprising principally rimu, birch, matai, and kahikatea.
The soil is light, partly on clay and partly on grit formation.

Notifying Lands in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine, as the time at which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Mowhanau Village is situated in the Kai Iwi Block, on the sea-coast. Access is from Wanganui, which is about ten miles distant by a buggy-road, and by a pack-track from Kai Iwi Railway-station. The sections comprise flat and undulating land, all in grass. The soil is of a sandy loam, on papa formation. The elevation ranges from about 50 ft. to 170 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by "The Land Act, 1908," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1908."
