country on frontage to road, 1,100 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level;
broken land is covered with mixed forest, comprising rimu,
totara, and tawa; the land on the elevation is mostly covered
with black birch and white pine; a small portion of the land is suitable
for agricultural purposes; the balance is suitable for grazing.
Small portion of the land is swampy. Well watered. Fairly good
access via road. About eight miles from Kaihu, two miles
from the railway-station. Good country for sheep and cattle, also
of construction.

valuable timbers. The land is suitable for grazing and cultivation,
with patches of semi-volcanic soil on section 5.
About six miles from Kaihu Railway-station.

Railway-station. Fairly easy country along frontage, broken at back;
covered with mixed forest, comprising rimu, rata, and tawa; also patches
of clay and semi-volcanic soil, on sandstone formation;
consists mostly of plateau land, lying at an elevation of about
1,300 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level, covered with mixed forest,
rimu, rata, and tawa; the forest on the plateau is mostly
mixed with black-birch and white-pine. Well watered. About 12 miles
from Kaihu Railway-station.

broken country; covered with mixed forest, comprising black

from nine to about twelve miles from Kaihu Railway-station
or from Kaihu. Good grazing land. Good country for sheep and
cattle, also of construction.

Railway-station.
Section 2: Moderately easy, partly broken
country, covered with mixed forest, including rimu, rata, tawa,
and kahikatea, with dense undergrowth of supple-jack, toetoe,
and nikau; clay soil, on sandstone formation; good grazing
land. Well watered by small streams. Distant two to three
miles from Kaihu Railway-station by road. Good country for
sheep and cattle, also of construction.
