Locality and Description.

Run 3 comprises wholly bush-covered country on the north bank of the Taramakau River, adjoining the Taramakau Settlement. Cattle-feed only.

Run 5 occupies the bush-covered land on the north bank of the Taramakau River, extending from the junction of the Otira River to the Hurunui Saddle. Accessible by river-bed, about two miles from Aicken’s Railway-station.

Runs 11 and 62 (grouped) occupy the whole of the upper valley of the Hokitika River, together with the open hilltops of Diedrich Range. The lower country is wholly bush-covered, and is suitable for cattle, and there is some sheep-feed on the hilltops. Accessible by Whitcombe Valley Road, about six miles from Koiterangi Post-office.

Run 12 occupies the valley of the Mikonui River for a distance of four miles, commencing at a point about five miles above the Main South Road crossing. Comprises bush-clad hillsides, with some river-flats. Suitable for cattle only. Distance from Ross about ten miles.

Runs 25 and 448 occupy the valley of the Arawata River from the junction of the Jackson River to the Waipara River, together with the open hilltops of Thompson Range and Watney Range. Cattle-feed on the bush slopes and river-flat, and good sheep-feed on the open tops. Distant about fifteen miles from Jackson’s Bay by metalled track to Jackson River, and thence by pack-track and river-bed.

Runs 58 and 349 (grouped) comprise the open hilltops of Mount Bonar, together with the bush-clad slopes between the Mount Bonar Range and the Main South Road. There is some sheep-feed on the open tops, and the remainder of the area is suitable for cattle. Distant about six miles from Pukekura Post-office, and about two miles from Hende’s Ferry Post-office.

Run 100 occupies the open hilltop of Gribben Spur. Sheep-feed only. Accessible by Waitaha River bed, about ten miles from Pukekura Post-office.

Run 117 occupies the bush country on the right bank of the Karangarua River, extending from the junction of the Copland River to the Twain River, and also the open hilltops of the Karangarua Range lying between those boundaries. Bush-feed for cattle on the lower country and sheep on the open tops. Accessible by the Karangarua River bed, about six miles from Karangarua Post-office, on the Main South Road.

The runs are offered for sale subject to the rights of the present licensees to valuation for improvements in terms of section 244 of “The Land Act, 1908.”

The improvements at present existing on the runs are estimated as follows: Run 3, no improvements; Run 5, clearing, grassing, hut, stockyard, £250; Runs 11 and 62, clearing, grassing, hut, &c., £50; Run 12, clearing, grassing, &c., £100; Runs 25 and 448, fencing, clearing, and grassing, £100; Runs 58 and 349, fencing, &c., £40; Run 100, no improvements; Run 117, no improvements.

Purchasers will be required to pay over the amount of valuation for improvements existing on the runs at the expiry of the present licenses before being admitted to possession.

Possession of Runs 100 and 117 will be given on the day of sale, and of the other runs on 1st March, 1911.

The purchaser of the license over Run 3 will be entitled to obtain a license under section 130 of “The Land Act, 1908,” over the land in the Taramakau River bed adjoining the run.
