  1. Service Supply-line—The applicant shall pay the whole
    cost of making up, excepting repairs only, from the nearest
    public supply-main for any distance in excess of 100 ft.

    up unless the wiring is completed in accordance with the
    Wiring Rules of the New Zealand Fire Underwriters' Association

    consumer must give the Inspector before wiring the name

    Officer at his request proper notice of the wiring, in all
    reasonable hour during the installation, or at any time after
    completion, for the purpose of inspection or testing.

  3. Inspection of New Installation—Where repairs shall be
    made in such installation or in the capacity of the lamps
    or apparatus shall be increased, due notcice to be given to the
    Resident Officer, In the case of any breach of this by-law,
    the supply may be cut off.

  4. Inspection of Installation—If the Inspector of any
    installation demonstrates from any cause whatsoever below
    the standard specified by the Wiring Rules of the New Zealand
    of Electrical Engineers, the service shall be disconnected
    until the installation is put in good order.

  5. Payments—Consumers shall pay to the Department for
    energy supplied, at the end of the second, sixth or ninth

  1. Ordinary and Extraordinary Supplies—The purposes for
    which water may be supplied by the Department are as
    follows:—

(1) The ordinary supply: This supply shall be used for
ordinary household and domestic purposes, and

(2) The extraordinary supply: This supply shall include
water for—

Breweries,
Dairies,
Boardinghouses,
Hotels,

Aerated-water manufacturers,
Water motors,
Steam-boilers or oil-engines,
Manufacturing, for sale, of any description,
Garden-fountains,
Irrigation of private gardens),
and for any water in excess of the ordinary supply.

(3) The minimum charges to apply for water sup
plied only at the discretion of the Resident Officer.

(4) No meter rent to be charged if supplied by
meter or an agreed charge.

  1. Application for Supply—All applications for any water
    supply shall be made in writing addressed to the Resident
    Officer, and if for an ordinary supply shall be accompanied
    by the signature of the applicant. If for an extraordinary
    shall state the name of the licensed plumber engaged to make
    the connection.

  2. Charges—The charges for water-supply shall be as
    follows:—

(1) In respect of the ordinary supply:—

For each rin. service, £1 10s. per annum;
For each additional w.c., 10s. 6d. per annum.

For each urinal or other sanitary convenience,
10s. 6d. per annum.

(2) In respect of every extraordinary supply, ls. per
1,000 gallons, with a minimum charge of 2s. 6d.
per quarter.

(3) In respect of halls, churches, and similar buildings
where no water is used, 10s. per annum.

Where boilers are used the supply shall rank as an extra
ordinary supply and not an ordinary and extraordiuary.

Wherever an annual sum is fixed by any part of this clause
as a minimum, it is to be paid if the supply has not run for
one year under any part of this clause shall expire on the
31st December.

  1. Connection with Main—In making connections, the
    Department will in all cases tap the main and put in the
    stopcock and meter (if one should be used) to serve as an
    extraordinary supply. The owner or applicant for the ser
    vice shall pay the whole cost of the service-fitting from the

  2. Number of Services—No premises shall be supplied by
    more than one service, unless with a full written by special

  4. Diameter of PipesStopcocks—(1) No domestic ser
    vice will be made to any premises with a diameter than 4 in.
    shall be provided by the applicant for the

    water-supply and to the satisfaction of the Department, and
    shall be of the best galvanised wrought iron. (2) The stopcock shall be in an accessible position, and
    of the Department's rules and shall be protected by a con
    crete cover, and in no case shall it be buried.

  5. Pressure and Testing—(1) It is contemplated that the
    water-supply will be at a pressure not exceeding 50lb. per
    square inch. (2) If the system shall be tested it be tested
    at the Department, which can be seen by him, it will show
    thereafter at a pressure of 120lb. And a pipe, a valve, or
    fittings which in any manner interferes with the ordinary
    working pressure, or under this test pressure shall be
    demonstrated to be of use, the same as the cost of these de
    fective fittings are not replaced within forty-eight hours of
    notice being given as to replace to the owner, the same shall
    bring the water-supply to the Department.

  6. Appliances to be kept in Repair—(1) Every person
    supplied with water shall keep in good order all pipes, fittings,
    taps, stopcocks, and other apparatus in good repair so as
    not to damage or pollute the water-supply.

(2) In default thereof the Department can turn the supply
of water in such manner as he may think fit.

(3) Any person for the purposes of this by-law, in the case
of any premises shall permit or suffer the supply of water,
whether to be used for domestic necessities or in an unusual
manner, or for purposes other than the supply was granted,
or if he fails to conform to any of the by-laws.

  1. Gardens—(1) Water from the hose for garden, do
    mestic purposes for 30 hours of a hose, and only to such
    hose appliances as are approved by the Department in each
    garden. No such hose shall be allowed to run continuously.

(2) If on the 1st of any month it is not used for the by-laws,
the Department shall have the power to install a
meter, and charge according to the Department, as an ex
traordinary supply.

  1. Fire Hydrants—Special fire-hydrant connections may
    be taken off the mains direct to any private premises and
