Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

Patent Office,
Wellington, 26th November, 1908.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the undermen-
tioned applications for Letters Patent have been
accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office.
Any person may, at any time within two months from the
date of this Gazette, give me notice in writing of opposition
to the grant of any such patent. Such notice must set forth
the particular grounds of objection, and be in duplicate. A
fee of 10s. is payable thereon.

No. 23520. — 25th September, 1907. — ROBERT MILLS, of
Dunedin, New Zealand, Engineer. Improved process of and
apparatus for preparing fibre from Phormium tenax.*

Extract from Specification.—The leading features of the
invention are the principle of feeding regulated by a time
shutter to the mouthpiece of the stripper, the endless belt
to which is secured a number of rods projecting at right
angles to carry away the stripped flax, the action of which
rods times or is timed by the shutter, the double rotary
conveyor provided with hooks or prongs to carry the stripped
flax through the washer, the collector consisting of chains and
guide-bars, and the twisting mechanism; also the principle
of transporting automatically the stripped flax from the
stripper to the draining-platform, and the principle of the
step in this operation which consists in automatically trans-
porting, twisting, and delivering washed fibre from a wet
scutcher or washer on to the drainage-platform.
