MINING NOTICE.

UNDER “THE MINING ACT, 1908.”

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A BRANCH
RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Rox-
burgh.

PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1908,” the under-
signed, John Ewing, of Roxburgh, Hydraulic Mining
Engineer, hereby applies for a license for a branch race as
specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has
been duly marked out for the purpose.
Date and number of miner’s right: 28th July, 1908;
No. 68552.
Address for service: Care of Hutton and McKean, Solici-
tors, Clyde.

Dated at Clyde, this 20th day of November, 1908.

Schedule.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal
points: Commencing at a point on the southern bank of
the Teviot River opposite the head of what is known as the
United Hercules Water-race, such point being the termina-
tion of race held under License No. 1192, dated 10th
September, 1908, following the line of said United Hercules
Race to point where Lake Onslow Road crosses it, running
thence through freehold land and small grazing-run now
occupied by J. A. Pannett to boundary of mining reserve,
thence through mining reserve to a point on the east bank
of Molyneux River about a mile and a half below Dumbarton
Rock.
For the purpose of construction, maintenance, and im-
provment of and deposit of soil from the race, the applicant
desires to occupy a strip of land 29 ft. wide on the upper and
60 ft. wide on the lower side of the race.
Distinguishing mark on pegs: “E.”
Length and intended course of race: 7 miles 70 chains;
southerly.
Points of intake: Does not touch river; will convey water
now carried in Race License No. 1192.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Eighteen
months; £10,000.
Mean depth and breadth: Iron piping 3 ft. diameter,
and open race 3 ft. deep, 7 ft. wide on bottom and 10 ft. on
top.
Number of heads to be diverted: No right to divert from
any watercourse.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Hydraulic sluicing
and elevating on Molyneux Flats on both sides of river
between Roxburgh and Ettrick.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
