Land reserved under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister of Lands, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said land should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,” and shall be subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 104 acres 2 roods 10 perches, more or less, being Section 2, Block XIV, Coromandel Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Section 1, the crossing of the Coromandel–Mercury Bay Road, and again by the said Section 1, Block XIV, Coromandel Survey District, 1600 and 1000 links, and by Crown land, 2400 links; towards the east by a line due south, 1820 links; towards the south-east by the said Coromandel–Mercury Bay Road; towards the south by a line due west, 2830 links; and towards the west by a right line due north, 2225 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: save and excepting part of the said Coromandel–Mercury Bay Road which intersects the land above described: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 332/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Portion of the County of Taupo East brought under “The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1908,” and created Part of the Bay of Plenty Hospital District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and ten of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the portion of the County of Taupo East described in the Schedule hereto is hereby brought under Part I of the aforesaid Act and created part of the Bay of Plenty Hospital District.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Dominion of New Zealand, being the northern part of the County of East Taupo, lying north of Lake Taupo and a right line running from the eastern shore of Lake Taupo at the mouth of the Waitahanui Stream over the summit of Wairango Mountain to the eastern boundary of the aforesaid county.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Private Boxes where no Letter-carrier’s Delivery.—Call-boxes.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of November, 1908.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by Order in Council made on the thirtieth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seven, regulations were made and charges fixed, under the authority of “The Post Office Act, 1900,” inter alia, for the letting of private letter-boxes, and it is expedient to amend such regulations and charges in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by “The Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke so much of the above-recited regulations and charges as relates to the letting of private boxes, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regulations and fix the charges set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth order that such revocation shall take effect, and the regulations and charges hereby made and fixed shall come into force, on the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

SCHEDULE.

PRIVATE BOXES AND CALL-BOXES.

  1. PRIVATE boxes and call-boxes are receptacles provided at post-offices at the discretion of the Postmaster-General for the distribution of mail-matter. By their means mail-matter is placed at the disposal of addressees who are holders of such boxes from the time that the sorting of mails is finished.

  2. Private Boxes.—Each private box is opened and closed from without the office by the holder thereof by means of a door, lock, and key, which must be kept in repair at the holder’s expense.

  3. Private boxes are allotted, at offices where they are provided, upon payment in advance of the following fees, and on the conditions hereinafter contained:—

At places where there is a letter-carrier’s delivery—

(a.) For a term exceeding six calendar months and not exceeding one year, one pound (£1).

(b.) For a term not exceeding six calendar months, ten shillings (10s.).

At other places—

(c.) For a term exceeding six calendar months and not exceeding one year, ten shillings (10s.).

(d.) For a term not exceeding six calendar months, five shillings (5s.).

  1. Private boxes are let for periods ending on the 30th June or the 31st December, and for a term not less than six months, except in the case of first letting. A private box may be first let for a term less than six months, but not less than three months, to date from the day on which the same shall be let up to the 30th June or the 31st December next following. In cases in which the first period would be less than three months, the next period of six months must be added and paid for. Where there are two or more applicants for the same box at the same time, preference shall be given to the person desiring to have the same for the longest term.
