No. 25078. — 15th October, 1908. — THOMAS GARE, of
Bramble Beach, Warren Drive, New Brighton, Chester, Great
Britain, Engineer. Improvements in apparatus for the manu-
ufacture of rubber articles from old or waste rubber.


Claims.—(1.) In an apparatus for the manufacture of rubber
articles from powdered old or waste rubber by spewing or
forcing, a cylindrical or tubular casing, and a feed-screw
therein, one or both of which are provided with means which
permit the escape of air from the powdered rubber before
being heated, all combined substantially as and for the pur-
pose set forth. (2.) In an apparatus such as specified in the
preceding claim, a cylindrical or tubular casing and a feed-
screw therein, a part adapted to be heated and give the
rubber article the desired cross-section, and a part for cooling
the article when shaped, all combined substantially as and
for the purpose set forth. (3.) In an apparatus such as
specified in claim 2, a stud or mandrel arranged in continuation
of and central with the said screw for producing tubular
rubber articles, all combined substantially as and for the
purpose set forth. (4.) In an apparatus such as specified
in claims 1 and 2, a screw in the said cylindrical or tubular
casing having thread-spaces corresponding with or similar
in section to the section of the rubber articles to be produced,
substantially as and for the purpose set forth. (5.) In an
apparatus such as specified in claim 1, in combination with
the said cylindrical or tubular casing and screw therein, a
mould arranged to slide away from and be filled with pressed
powdered rubber by the said screw, all combined substantially
as and for the purpose set forth.
