No. 24938.—16th September, 1908.—FRANK COOPER, of Christchurch, New Zealand, Manufacturer. Improvement in grain-drills.
Extract from Specification.—My invention relates to agricultural implements used for drilling or broadcasting grains or seeds, and is for the purpose of indicating the contents of the box and so show what quantity has been sown over a given area. The section and the width and depth of the box being known, a gauge is inserted in box, preferably against a flat side, the said gauge consisting of any suitable material, marked out in pecks or bushels, starting from the bottom at one peck, and thence in single pecks or fractions thereof until full content is noted.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]

No. 24964.—23rd September, 1907.—JAMES WINSTEAD OWEN, of 1227 Susquehanna Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America, Engineer. Improvements in the manufacture of sound-records and apparatus for use therein.
[NOTE.—This is an application under section 106 of the Act, the date given being the official date of the application in the United States of America.]
Extract from Specification.—The present invention consists in producing a smooth raised sound-line upon the record-blank as the first step, and forming a matrix direct from the original record by electro-deposition. This matrix is removed from the original record, and another matrix for pressing the commercial records may be made from it, the second matrix having raised sound-lines on its face; or the first matrix, which has depressed lines on its face, may be used for producing a commercial record with raised sound-lines on its face. Another alternative is to electroplate the original record and use it as a matrix for producing a commercial record with depressed sound-lines. A commercial record having raised sound-lines on its face may also be produced by making a record-matrix from the matrix obtained by the last-mentioned method, this second matrix having evidently recessed sound-lines on its face.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
