- Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £270, payable in cash or in twenty-one years by half-yearly instalments of £10 10s. 8d. Total half-yearly payment, £84 4s. 5d.
Raumati Settlement is situated two miles and a half from Dannevirke, which is the centre of a flourishing dairying and grazing district. It is intersected by the Wellington-Napier Railway, and is within half a mile of the Mangatera, Piripiri, and Matamau Sidings. The whole area was formerly under heavy forest, from which the valuable timber has been removed, and the remainder partly cleared. A large portion of each section is in English grass. The soil is of even quality throughout; the subsoil is clay, on papa formation. Although intersected by many gullies, the range of altitude only varies from 750 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. When cleared of stumps a large area will be ploughable. The country is well sheltered and warm, and grass comes on early in spring. Nearly all the sections contain sufficient totara for fencing; building-timber can be obtained from several mills within a mile of the settlement. All the sections are watered, most of them by several streams. Two school-sites and a creamery-site have been reserved.
The right to use the trolly-lines on Sections 50 and 55, Block X, is reserved until the expiry of existing timber-cutting rights.
The improvements which go with the land comprise fencing, valued as follows: Section 47, Block X, £46 5s.; Section 54, Block X, £14; Section 55, Block X, £21 15s.; Sections 27, Block XIV, and 1, Block XVI, £41 5s.; Section 20, Block XVI, £14 12s. 6d.
The improvements on Section 47, Block X, which are not included in the capital value of the land and which must be paid for separately by the tenant comprise a dwellinghouse, 27 ft. by 27 ft., containing four rooms, exclusive of scullery and dairy, with iron roof, double brick chimney, and “Shacklock” No. 1 range, and a galvanised-iron tank of a capacity of about 600 gallons, all valued at £270.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for lease as one allotment by public auction, for grazing purposes, for a term of twenty-one years, at the District Lands Office, Blenheim, at noon on Tuesday, the 22nd day of December, 1908, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—TAYLOR PASS SURVEY DISTRICT.
SECTION 1, Block XVII, and part Section 1, Block XVIII: 280 acres (State forest reserve).
Section 8, Block XVIII: 45 acres 3 roods (Crown land).
Total area, 325 acres 3 roods; upset annual rental, £41.
Weighted with £57 12s., valuation for about 96 chains of fencing.
Possession will be given on 1st January, 1909.
Locality and Description.
The State forest reserve comprises part of Dungree plantation-area, which has not been planted with trees.
The whole area is provided with good access by means of the main road from Taylor Pass to Blenheim, and by a formed road to the Dungree Railway-station. It is situated within four miles of the Township of Seddon, and adjoins the Starborough Settlement.
The land from Donald’s Creek to the new fence is stony, mixed with patches of flax and scrub, and from the same fence eastward to Nina Creek varies from fair to good. The low-lying parts should carry good feed in the summer months. Section 8 is good land, the balance being of a rather dry, stony nature.
