Sittings of the Native Land Commission at Gisborne and Huntly.

NOTICE is hereby given that sittings of the Native Land Commission will be held at the undermentioned places on the dates specified:—

At the Supreme Court Buildings, at Gisborne, on Monday, the 2nd day of November, 1908, at 10 a.m.

At the Courthouse, at Huntly, on Monday, the 9th day of November, 1908, at 2 p.m.

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 80 acres, more or less, being the middle part of Allotment No. 36, in the Parish of Oruru, in the Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded on the north-east by other part of Allotment No. 36, 4034 links; on the south by other part of Allotment No. 36, 4900 links; on the west by a road, 438 links, 201 links, 744 links, 252 links; and on the north-west by other part of Allotment No. 36, 2270 links. The registered owner of the land is William Flicker, described as of Mangonui, settler, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

AT the examination of candidates held in September, 1908, twenty candidates presented themselves. Of these, Mr. Francis Charles Hay, Public Works Department, Wellington, and Mr. Robert Glen Macmorran, Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, passed the examination with credit, obtaining over 80 per cent. of the maximum marks; while Messrs. J. B. Birkmyer, Hamilton; L. G. R. Hunt, Auckland; and J. G. MacGibbon, Wellington, completed their examinations.
