Rangataua is situated on the North Island Main Trunk
Railway, about three miles south-east of Ohakune, and is
eighty-two miles distant from Marton Junction and 198
miles from Wellington.

The sections, which have recently been felled and burnt,
are nearly all level; some are wet in parts.

A sawmill, general store, post and telegraph office, and
school have already been erected in the vicinity.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand
nine hundred and eight.

Opening Town Lands in Wellington Land District for
Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I,
William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the town lands
enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selec-
tion on renewable lease on Monday, the seventh day of
December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the
rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also de-
clare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject
to the provisions of the said Act.

Owhango is situated on the North Island Main Trunk
Railway, 191 miles from Auckland and fifteen miles south
of Taumarunui. The main Waimarino-Taumarunui Road
passes through the town, and the Hikimutu, Kawautahi,
and Oio No. 2 Roads converge upon it.

The sections for the most part comprise flat land, some
being part of a natural clearing. The remainder are covered
with scrub and bush. The soil varies in quality from light
pumiceous to sandy loam, partly on clay and partly on
pumice subsoil.

this twelfth day of October, one thousand nine
hundred and eight.

Exchanging Portion of a Reserve for other Land.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by notice published on page 122 of the
New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day
of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one,
Section 210, Suburbs of Gisborne, containing eight acres
and sixteen perches, was set aside as a reserve for a sheep
and cattle quarantine-ground, being one of the purposes
enumerated in Class II of the Second Schedule to “The
Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908” (hereinafter re-
ferred to as “the said Act”): And whereas section six of
the said Act authorises the Governor to exchange any of the
land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value,
to be dedicated to one or more of the purposes comprised in
the said Class II: And whereas, in the opinion of the
Governor, it is expedient to exchange a portion of such re-
serve for other land of equal value described in the second
column of the Schedule hereto, to be dedicated as herein-
after provided:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in him by section six of the
said Act and of section one hundred and forty-two of “The
Land Act, 1908,” doth hereby declare that the land de-
