No. 23497.—18th September, 1907.—JOHN CRASTON ATKINSON, of 240 Karangahape Road, Auckland, New Zealand, Watchmaker. A combined hat, book, and umbrella clip, a chair or form fixture for churches and public halls.*
Claims.—(1.) An appliance to fix on a chair, or form, or other seat to hold a hat or book. The object is attained by means of a strip of metal, either quite straight or curved at the top, to which is attached a spring clip, this strip of metal with clip to be screwed or otherwise secured on to the seat. (2.) An appliance to hold an umbrella (two methods), first, by another spring clip fixed on to a cross-piece of metal that is attached on to the first-mentioned strip that holds the hat or book; and, second, for those who may prefer it, a chain and hook attached to the cross-piece, instead of the spring clip, there being a small hole or ring to take the hooks. With either of these methods there is a screw socket (two or more kinds, according to necessity), one to screw into the bottom of the seat-leg, and the other to be screwed on to the seat-leg, where it cannot be screwed in, some seat-legs being made of metal. This socket is to hold the tip of the umbrella or stick so that they will be kept upright. (3.) An appliance to hold a bag or other article—namely, a hook—to be fixed on the cross-piece “B” on the opposite end to the umbrella clip or chain, or on the bottom of the upright “A” should there be no cross-piece.
