PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand passed in the eighth year of the reign of His Majesty King Edward VII, and intituled “The Marriage Act, 1908,” the following name of an Officiating Minister within the meaning of the said Act is published for general information :—

Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”
To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 40 acres, more or less, being north-east part of Allotment No. 58, Parish of Maungataniwha, in the Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded on the north-east by Allotment No. 59, 2750 links; on the east and south-east by a road, 1042 links, 306 links, and 208 links; on the south-west by other part of Allotment No. 58, 3645 links; and on the north-west by a stream. The land was Crown-granted to Henry Negus, described as of Auckland, accountant, who cannot now be traced.
WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion :
Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Te Makarini Scholarships, held at Te Aute College, Hawke’s Bay.
THREE scholarships of the yearly value of £35, tenable for two years, are offered for competition. One of these scholarships, to be called the senior scholarship, is open to all Maori boys not over sixteen years of age at the end of the month preceding the date of the examination: the other two scholarships are junior scholarships, one of which is open to all Maori boys under fifteen years of age at the end of the month preceding the date of the examination who have attended a Native school or schools under the control of the Education Department, and whose attendance at school during the previous year is considered by the Inspector of Native Schools to have been satisfactory; the other is open on similar conditions to Maori boys whose attendance at any school other than Te Aute and St. Stephen’s during the previous year has been satisfactory. The scholarships are open to Maori boys on the conditions laid down in the regulations of the Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as printed in the Appendix to the Native Schools Code, 1908. The examination will be held at convenient centres on the 7th and 8th of December, 1908.
Candidates must, either directly or through their teachers, send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education Department, Wellington, of their intention to present themselves for examination. Such notice must be posted so as to reach the Department not later than the 26th of October, 1908.
Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be obtained from teachers of Native schools and boarding institutions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secretary for Education, Wellington.

NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of “The Land Act, 1908,” and “The Land for Settlements Act, 1908,” and regulations thereunder, that written tenders will be received at the District Lands Office, Auckland, from the proprietors of existing sawmills, and logging contractors, up till 12 o’clock noon on Wednesday, the 14th day of October, 1908, for the purchase of the kauri and other milling-timbers standing or lying on the undermentioned lots.
