CLIFTON COUNTY.—WARO SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated on Tongaporutu–Mangaroa Road. Access from Tongaporutu, distant about twenty-five miles—ten miles formed dray-road, remainder bridle-track. From Mangaroa by horse-track the distance is about fifteen miles. Very easy slopes; fair soil, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. The forest is very heavy, comprising rimu, red-birch, kahikatea, rata, tawa, tawhero, and hinau, with fairly dense undergrowth. Elevation, 1,350 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level.

WAITOMO COUNTY.—OHURA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated on Kururau Road. Access from Taumarunui, distant about fourteen miles by pack-track. Fairly steep ridges and spurs; small flat on frontage, which shows pumice in places. Fair soil, on papa formation. The forest is light to heavy, comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, and hinau, with dense undergrowth. Elevation, 800 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on Kururau Road. Access from Taumarunui, distant about seventeen miles by formed pack-track, or by pack-track from Aukopae Landing. The section comprises flats on frontage and fairly easy ridges and slopes, portion open fern land, remainder light forest and scrub, manuka, tawa, tawhero, rimu, rewarewa, and fairly dense undergrowth. The soil is generally of fair quality, being intermixed with pumice on the flats, and well watered. Elevation, 525 ft. to 1,250 ft. above sea-level.

Opening Land in Taranaki Land District for Sale or Selection.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-third day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”


SCHEDULE.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—PATEA COUNTY.—OPAKU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £1,324 2s. 6d., valuation for improvements, consisting of 294 acres felled and grassed, 94½ chains of fencing, three miles of tracks, garden, dwellinghouse, two huts, logging and clearing, and yards.

Situated on the Ball Road, fronting the Patea River. Distant from Patea 18½ miles, and from Hawera twenty-one miles. Access from Ball Road Railway-station, nine miles distant—one mile metalled and the remainder formed dray-road also from Patea, five miles metalled, via Kaha-roa and Maben Roads, the remainder formed dray-road; comprises easy-sloping country, with river-flats. The forest now remaining is heavy, consisting of rata, rimu, &c., with the usual undergrowth of vines and supplejack. Soil of good quality, on a papa formation; well watered. Elevation varies from 700 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fifth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Land temporarily reserved for Railway Purposes in Taupiri Township, Auckland Land District.


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for railway purposes.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 31 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 45 and 50, Township of Taupiri, situated in Block IV, Newcastle Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by a public road, towards the south-east by the North Island Main Trunk Railway, towards the south-west by a public road, and towards the north-west by Section No. 47 of the aforesaid township; again towards the south-west by Section No. 47 aforesaid, and again towards the north-west by Sections Nos. 48 and 49 of the aforesaid township: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 57404/21, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
