Notice by the Public Trustee under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

To the owner or owners of a parcel of land, containing 50 acres, more or less, being Allotment No. 223, in the Parish of Waimana, in the Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded towards the north-east by Allotment 222, 2820 links; towards the south-east by a road 100 links wide, 1941 links; towards the south by a line, 2160 links; and towards the west by Allotment 221, 2254 links. The land was Crown-granted to William Dunne, described as a private in the 1st Regiment, Waikato Militia, who cannot now be traced.

WHEREAS the Public Trustee has instituted inquiries, and has not thereby ascertained who the owner or owners of the above-described land is or are, and believes that such owner is, or owners are, not in the Dominion:

Now, this notice calls upon such owner or owners, within six months of the date of the publication of this notice in this Gazette, to establish to the satisfaction of the Public Trustee his or their title to the land specified in this notice; and, if such owner does or owners do not, within the time limited, so establish his or their title, the Public Trustee will exercise the powers and authorities granted to him in and by “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

Notice under “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894.”

WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have, for the purposes of “The Unclaimed Lands Act, 1894,” made due inquiries with respect to the interest in the land described in the Schedule hereunder written, and the owner of such interest, and have, in respect of the said land and the said interest, given the notices prescribed by section 4 of the said Act, and have in all respects complied with the provisions of the said section: And whereas I have not thereby ascertained who the owner of the said interest is, and believe that such owner is not in the Dominion, nor has such owner established his interest in the title to the said land, as required by the said Act: I hereby give notice that the said interest in the said land is, under and by virtue of the said Act, vested in me, as the Public Trustee as aforesaid, as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

The interest of Charles Brown, described in 1876 as then of Wellington, hotelkeeper, and being the registered owner of an estate in fee-simple, as tenant, in common with William Rowe, of Normanby, nurseryman, of the following lands, all situated in the Township of Normanby, in the Patea District, in Taranaki, namely: 2 roods, Allotments 68 and 79 of Block IV; 1 rood, Allotment 95 of Block V; 2 roods 39 perches, Allotments 100, 102, and 111 of Block VI; 3 roods, Allotments 265, 266, and 268 of Block XXI.

Situated on the east bank of the Karetu River, about four miles from Loburn, and twelve miles by good road from the Ashley Railway-station. About 20 acres consists of alluvial river-flats, the balance open undulating land, of which about 80 acres is ploughable. The soil is a sour clay, and carries vegetation of bracken, manuka, tussock, &c.
