the first port of arrival, and emigrants at the final port of departure.

In the New Zealand Gazette of the 16th April, 1908, there appeared a return showing the estimated yield per acre of
wheat, oats, and barley for the Dominion, viz.: Wheat, 27 bushels; oats, 30 bushels; and barley, 29 bushels.
The actual yields now to hand are as follows:—

WHEAT.
The area for threshing was 193,031 acres, and the total yield is computed at .. 5,567,139 bushels.
Amount of wheat and flour returned on hand, 31st October, 1907 (as per returns) .. 1,641,251 "
Amount of wheat and flour imported from 1st November, 1907, to 29th February, 1908 124,271 "

The Old Government Buildings (depicted) were completed in 1876 and initially housed the entire Wellington-based civil service as well as the entire New Zealand Cabinet. The Executive Council met there until 1948.
