Opening Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and their amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

This section is situated on the Miromiro and Pekanga Roads, access being from the Lower Hutt Railway-station, which is distant about one mile and a quarter by a metalled dray-road, and comprises easy-sloping grassed land with a creek running through the middle; there are patches of fern, gorse, and tauhinu throughout. The soil is of fair quality, on rotten-rock formation. Elevation ranges from about 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. The improvements, included in the price of the land, consist of felling and grassing, valued at £55. The lease will be subject to an easement 6 ft. wide along the northern and eastern boundaries of section in favour of occupiers of Sections 61, 62, 63, and 64, Block VIII, Belmont Survey District.

Notifying Land in Canterbury Land District for Sale by Public Auction.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday, the twenty-first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eight, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

Situated on the east bank of the Karetu River, about four miles from Loburn, and twelve miles by good road from the Ashley Railway-station. About 20 acres consists of alluvial river-flats, the balance open undulating land, of which about 80 acres is ploughable. The soil is a sour clay, and carries vegetation of bracken, manuka, tussock, &c.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Land temporarily reserved for Public Utility in the Wellington Land District.


PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned: Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for purposes of public utility.


SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section No. 3, Block X, Karioi Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north-east by Run No. 2, towards the south by a public road, and towards the south-west by Section No. 2, Block X, Karioi Survey District; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 58640/1, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Trustee for the Belfast Public Cemetery appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

HENRY WATSON

to be a Trustee, in the place of George Ellis, who has left the district, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Belfast Public Cemetery, in conjunction with Robert Guthrie, William Nicholls, John Cleland, Robert Waite, Edward Harris, and Edward Thompson, previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
