No. 24436.—23rd May, 1908.—LAMSON CONSOLIDATED
STORE SERVICE COMPANY, a corporation organized under the
laws of the State of New Jersey, United States of America,
and having a principal place of business at 161 Devonshire
Street, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts aforesaid (assignees
of George Albert Amsden, of Littleton, Middlesex, Massa-
chusetts aforesaid, Salesman). Cable-carrier apparatus.

Claims.—(1.) In a cable-carrier apparatus, an outgoing or
forwarding track, an incoming or return track, a carrier
adapted to travel on said tracks, an endless motor-cable
adapted to propel said carrier along said tracks, a loop in said
incoming or return track forming a way-station through which
the cable travels, means in said loop-station for placing said
carrier into co-operation with said track and said cable, and
means for engaging said carrier with said cable. (2.) In a
cable-carrier apparatus, an outgoing or forwarding track, an
incoming or return track, a carrier adapted to travel on said
tracks, an endless motor-cable adapted to propel said carrier
along said tracks, a loop in said incoming or return track
forming a way-station through which the cable travels, means
in the vertical portion of said loop-station for placing said
carrier into co-operation with said track and said cable, and
means in said vertical portion of said loop-station for en-
gaging said carrier with said cable. (3.) In a cable-carrier
apparatus, an outgoing or forwarding track, an incoming or
return track, a carrier adapted to travel on said tracks, an
endless motor-cable adapted to propel said carrier along said
tracks, a loop having a 180° bend in said incoming or return
track and forming a way-station through which the cable
travels, means in said loop-station for placing said carrier
into co-operation with said track and said cable, and means
for engaging said carrier with said cable.

No. 24438.—23rd May, 1908.—ISABEL BUTTON, of New
Brighton, Canterbury, New Zealand, Spinster. An im-
proved halter or headstall.

Claims.—(1.) A halter of the kind described formed of one
piece of rope or the like, and adjustable to fit around the nose
and over the head of an animal by the one operation of pulling
the free end of the halter, substantially as set forth. (2.) A
halter of the kind described formed of one piece of rope or
the like, a loop formed at one end of the rope, another loop
at a distance therefrom, the free end of the rope being passed
first through the loop at the end of the rope and then through
the second loop, substantially as set forth.

Improvements in apparatus for exterminating weeds.

Claims.—(1.) In apparatus of the class described, a frame
carried upon wheels, upon which the said apparatus is
balanced, substantially as set forth. (2.) In apparatus of
the class described, and wherein the apparatus is balanced
upon a pair of wheels, the employment of a handle extending
rearwardly and giving complete command over the apparatus
to the operator, substantially as set forth. (3.) In apparatus
of the class described, a bracket fixed to the front of the
frame and adapted to receive the burner of the apparatus,
substantially as set forth. (4.) The combination of a Well’s
light apparatus with a frame carried and balanced upon a
pair of wheels, a runner-plate at the front of the frame, a
handle extending rearwardly from the frame, and a bracket at
the front of the frame adapted to receive a Well’s light burner,
substantially as set forth. (5.) The combination and arrange-
ment of parts comprising the improvements in apparatus for
exterminating weeds, constructed, arranged, and operating
substantially as and for the purposes set forth, and illustrated
in the drawing.
