Reserves in Wellington Land District for Lease by Public Tender.

Wellington, 6th July, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received at this office up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 26th day of August, 1908, for leases of the undermentioned reserves under the provisions of "The Public Reserves Act, 1881."

Terms and Conditions of Lease.

  1. Tenders must be accompanied by marked cheque or post-office order for six months' rent at the rate offered, together with £1 1s. lease fee.

  2. There are no restrictions or limitations as to the number of sections which one person may lease, and no declaration is required. Residence and improvements are not compulsory. No compensation shall be claimed by the lessee, nor shall any be allowed by the Government, on account of any improvements effected by the lessee, nor for any other cause.

  3. Possession will be given on the day of acceptance of tender.

  4. The leases shall be for the terms specified, but shall be subject to termination by twelve months' notice in the event of the land being required by the Government.

  5. The rent shall be paid half-yearly in advance.

  6. The lessee shall have no right to sublet, transfer, or otherwise dispose of the land comprised in the lease, except with the written consent of the Commissioner of Crown Lands first had and obtained.

  7. The lessee shall prevent the growth and spread of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land comprised in the lease; and he shall with all reasonable despatch remove, or cause to be removed, all gorse, sweetbriar, broom, or other noxious weeds or plants, as may be directed by the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

  8. The lease shall be liable to forfeiture in case the lessee shall fail to fulfil any of the conditions of the said lease within thirty days after the date on which the same ought to be fulfilled.

Kauri Timber for Sale by Public Tender.

District Lands Office,
Auckland, 2nd July, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given, in terms of "The Land Act, 1892," and amendments, and regulations thereunder, that written tenders will be received at the District Lands Office, Auckland, from the proprietors of existing sawmills, and logging contractors, up to 12 o'clock noon on Friday, the 24th July, 1908, for the purchase of the kauri timber standing on the undermentioned Crown land.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Crown Land adjoining Te Mata Forest Reserve, Part Block X, Hukerenui Survey District.

27 GREEN and dry kauri-trees, containing (approximately) 111,235 sup. feet (standing measurement).

Time for removal: Nine months.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Intending tenderers are expected to visit the locality and to satisfy themselves in every particular on all matters relating to their tender.

  2. The aforementioned quantity, quality, and kind as to the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for the purpose of this sale; and no contract for purchase shall be voidable, nor shall the successful tenderer be entitled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber being of less quantity, quality, and kind than as stated herein or in any advertisement having reference to the said timber, nor shall any extra sum be claimed by the Crown if for any reason the quantity of timber is found to be in excess of that stated herein.

  3. No tender will be considered wherein a less royalty is offered than 2s. per 100 sup. feet.

  4. The position of the timber is approximately shown on the lithograph, and should any dispute arise as to boundaries, the decision of the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be final.

  5. In the event of the above lot not being disposed of, consideration will be given to applications made at any time within six months from the above date of closing of tenders (unless previously formally withdrawn), providing, however, that the amount offered is not less than the upset price stated herein.

  6. Tenders must be submitted on forms which will be supplied on application to the Postmasters, Hukerenui, Whangarei, and Whakapara, or at the Crown Lands Office, Auckland, and envelopes enclosing same to be marked "Tender for timber," and addressed to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.

  7. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

TERMS.

Tenders must be accompanied with a deposit of 5 per cent. on the amount of tender, in cash, marked cheque, or post-office order; the balance, together with the £1 1s. timber-cutting license fee, to be paid within seven days after acceptance of tender.
