Taking the Culverden Estate under "The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900," and its Amendments.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by a notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the tenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seven, it was therein stated that it was the intention of the Governor to take compulsorily, under the powers in that behalf conferred by "The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900," and its amendments, the lands mentioned in such notice:
And whereas, in pursuance of such notice, a claim for compensation was made by the trustees of the late Sir J. Cracroft Wilson, and the claim has been determined by the Compensation Court sitting at Christchurch, in the Provincial District of Canterbury, in manner provided by such Acts:
And whereas, in pursuance of the said Acts, an order was made by the said Court on the twenty-third day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight, declaring the land which the Minister is entitled to take (being identical with the land specified in the Schedule hereto), and also declaring the amount of compensation and costs to be paid in respect to the taking of such land, which order is now duly filed in the office of the Supreme Court, Christchurch:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said Acts, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto (being identical with the land specified in the aforesaid order) is compulsorily taken under the said Acts, as from the thirtieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
SCHEDULE.
CULVERDEN ESTATE.
Rural Land.
FIRSTLY: All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 25,082 acres 2 roods 14 perches,
more or less, situated in the Culverden and Mandamus Districts, being all the land contained in certificate of title, Volume 194, folio 241, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch, and bounded as follows: Towards the west and north generally by the Montrose Estate and south bank of the Waiau-ua River, towards the east generally by the St. Leonards Estate, and towards the south generally by the Pahau River.
Town Land.
Secondly: All that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing 81 acres 1 rood 24 perches, being the whole of the land known as the Township of Culverden, excepting thereout lots numbered respectively 5, 6, 18, 19, 20, 33, and 34, sold, containing 3 acres 2 roods 33 perches; and also excepting thereout lots numbered respectively 3 and 17, containing 3 roods 35 perches, retained by the owners: on the plan of the said township, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, at Christchurch, numbered 28, Amuri: as the same is delineated on Plan No. 19386, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged with red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.
