  1. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Napier, on payment of a license fee of £5, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  2. No licensee shall take or kill more than three stags, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points.

  3. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever, and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorising any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  5. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £20.

Appointment of Trustees, Pelichet Bay (Dunedin) Rifle-range Reserve.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Act, 1888,” “The Volunteer Drill-sheds and Lands Trustees Validation Act, 1890,” and the Defence Act Amendment Act, 1907 (hereinafter termed “the said Acts”), His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, doth hereby constitute and appoint

Lieutenant-Colonel JAMES ALLEN, Otago Division of Garrison Artillery Volunteers;

Lieutenant-Colonel ARTHUR STONEHAM, 1st Battalion, Otago Rifle Volunteers;

Captain JOHN MCINDOE, Active List;

Captain JOHN ALEXANDER PAUL FREDERIC, No. 1 Company, Otago Division of Artillery Volunteers; and

Captain GEORGE DOUGLAS ROSS, No. 2 Company, New Zealand Engineer Volunteers,

to be Trustees of all that parcel of land in the Otago Land District, being portion of Town Belt, City of Dunedin (part of which is now included within boundaries of the Northern Cemetery), containing 2 acres and 8 perches, more or less; portion of Town Belt, City of Dunedin, containing 9 perches, more or less; and part of Section No. 51, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, containing 84 acres 2 roods, more or less: as the same are more particularly delineated on the plans marked S.G. 38845 and L. and S. 57855/6, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red: together with all buildings erected thereon: to hold the said several premises for the purposes of maintaining a rifle range for Volunteer purposes, and generally for the purposes of and with the powers conferred by the said Acts. And it is hereby declared that the said Trustees shall be incorporated under the name of “The Trustees of the Pelichet Bay (Dunedin) Rifle-range Reserve,” and that they shall take office as such Trustees on the eighteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Inspector under “The Scaffolding Inspection Act, 1906,” appointed.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The Scaffolding Inspection Act, 1906” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint Inspectors of Scaffolding to carry out the provisions of the said Act, and define the district within which each Inspector shall exercise his functions:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby appoint

SAMUEL TYSON

to be an Inspector of Scaffolding under the said Act, and do hereby declare that the district within which he shall exercise his functions shall comprise the Industrial Districts of Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland.

Regulations under “The Factories Act, 1901,” and Amendments.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section sixty-seven of “The Factories Act, 1901,” it is provided that the Governor may from time to time make regulations for the purposes of the said Act, and by section seventeen of the said Act, as amended by section five, subsection two, of the Factories Act Amendment Act, 1907, it is enacted that in every factory the occupier shall at all times cause to be exhibited and maintained at or near the entrance of the factory a statement in the form prescribed by regulations of the procedure required to be observed in order to claim compensation under “The Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act, 1900”: And whereas it is expedient to prescribe the form of such statement accordingly: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by “The Factories Act, 1901,” and its amendments, doth hereby make the regulations and prescribe the form of statement to be made for the purposes above mentioned, namely:—

REGULATIONS.

The occupier of every factory shall at all times cause to be exhibited and maintained in some conspicuous place at or near the entrance of the factory, and in such other part or parts thereof as the Inspector from time to time directs, and in such a position as to be easily read by the persons employed in the factory, a statement in the form following, namely:—

STATEMENT SHOWING THE PROCEDURE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLAIMING COMPENSATION UNDER “THE WORKERS’ COMPENSATION FOR ACCIDENTS ACT, 1900,” AND AMENDMENTS.

Notice of Accident.

  1. To be given as soon as practicable (1900, section 12), and signed either by the worker or by any person in his behalf (1900, section 13), giving (1) name and address of person injured, (2) cause and nature of injury, (3) date and locality, and to be served on the employer or employers, or any one of them (1900, section 13).

Claim for Compensation.

  1. To be made within three months; or in case of death, six months (1900, section 12); or notice of intention to make claim may first be given to employer within the prescribed three months, in which case the time for making claim is extended by one month (1904, section 4).

APPLICATION FOR ARBITRATION.

If the claim is not settled by agreement an application for arbitration may be made by the worker, or his dependants, or an agent appointed in writing by any of them, or by a barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court, in accordance with clauses 1 to 4 and 6 of the regulations, namely:—
