A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may appoint a Commission who may inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there may be thermal springs, and report thereon to the Governor, with recommendations as to what lands should be reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas such Commission was duly appointed, and, after inspection, recommended that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereunder should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, and of “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be reserved under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

MOUNT PLEASANT SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 38 acres 2 roods 11 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 76, Block VII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by part of Section No. 5 and the crossing of a road-line, Block VI, aforesaid district, 1387·8 links; towards the south-east by part of Section No. 77, Block VII, aforesaid district, 1476·1 links; thence south-westerly by a line bearing 315° 09′, 500 links; thence again south-westerly by a line bearing 225° 09′, 1461·2 links; thence again north-easterly by a line bearing 135° 09′, 500 links; again towards the south-east by part of aforesaid Section No. 77 and the crossing of a road-line, 1104·6 links; and towards the west by a road-line and the crossing of a road-line, by Section No. 60 and part of Section No. 59, aforesaid Block VII, 1989·6 links; and towards the north-west by Section No. 1 of 75 and the crossing of a road-line, said Block VII, 2614·5 links: and excluding from the above-described boundaries two road-lines which intersect the same: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 53502/11, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister of Lands, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the parcel of Crown land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said land should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of Crown land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903,” and shall be subject to the provisions of that Act and “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906.”


SCHEDULE.

MANGAWEKA SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 83 acres and 10 perches, more or less, being Section No. 5, Block IX, Hautapu Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and the north by Section No. 12 of said Block IX, towards the north-east by Makohine-Mangaweka Road, towards the south-east by the North Island Main Trunk Railway Reserve, and towards the south-west by Section No. 6 of the above-mentioned Block IX; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 57172/7, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Change of Name of Locality, “Western Spit” to “Westshore.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS a petition has been presented by settlers in the locality known as “Western Spit,” in the County of Hawke’s Bay, praying that the name of such locality be changed to “Westshore”: And whereas the Council of the County of Hawke’s Bay has, by resolution adopted at an ordinary meeting thereof, consented to the name of “Westshore” being substituted for the existing name of “Western Spit”:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the locality now known as “Western Spit,” in the County of Hawke’s Bay, shall be and the same is hereby altered to “Westshore,” and do assign the last-mentioned name to such locality accordingly; and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the first day of September, one thousand nine hundred and eight, not being earlier than six months after the first publication thereof in the Gazette.
