Constituting Court for hearing Petition re Licensing Poll, Ohinemuri.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in that behalf conferred upon me by “The Licensing Act, 1908,” I, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby decide that the Stipendiary Magistrates hereinafter named shall constitute the Court for the hearing of any petition for inquiry into the conduct of the licensing poll taken in the Ohinemuri Licensing District on the seventeenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight, viz. :

FREDERICK JAMES BURGESS, Esq., Stipendiary Magistrate, Thames;
JOHN MACKINTOSH ROBERTS, Esq., Stipendiary Magistrate, Tauranga; and
ERNEST CARGILL CUTTEN, Esq., Stipendiary Magistrate, Hamilton.

As witness my hand, this twelfth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Appointment of Councillors, Borough of Green Island.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by section one hundred and thirty of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct and declare that the number of members of the Green Island Borough Council to be elected for the West Ward and for the East Ward of the Borough of Green Island shall be two members for each such ward; and in further pursuance of the said powers I do hereby appoint William Johnstone Will, of Abbotsford, medical practitioner, and George Vere Price, of Abbotsford, foreman, to be members of the Green Island Borough Council for the said West Ward, and Edward John Reeves, of Burnside, bootmaker, and Albert Charles Crimp, of Burnside, bricklayer, to be members of the Green Island Borough Council for the said East Ward; such members to remain in office until the next biennial election of Councillors in April next.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Arapawa Survey District for Scenery-preservation Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,” to take for scenery-preservation purposes the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Picton, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, Wellington.
