substantially as and for the purposes set forth. (2.) In apparatus for loading or unloading coals and other suitable materials into or from vessels, railway-trucks, barges, or other receptacles, in combination, an elevator the lower portion of the frame of which is hinged or pivoted to the upper portion, an hydraulic motor for moving the lower portion to the required angle to the upper portion, a boom or girder mounted on a moving framework, means for elevating, tilting, and causing the boom to describe a circle in a horizontal plane, a swinging turntable by which the elevator is suspended mounted on wheels running on a track arranged on the boom, conveyers, chutes, and director-plates, and means for operating the elevator, conveyers, and turntable, substantially as and for the purposes set forth. (3.) The general combination and arrangement of the several parts to form apparatus for loading or unloading coals and other suitable materials into or from vessels, railway-trucks, barges, or other receptacles, substantially as described, and as illustrated in the drawings.
