DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership lately subsisting between us, the undersigned, NATHANIEL HOOPER and VINCENT HOOPER, carrying on business as Drapers at Gisborne, under the style or firm of “Hooper and Hooper,” has this day been dissolved by mutual consent. All debts due to or owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said Vincent Hooper, who will continue the business under the present style or firm of “Hooper and Hooper.”

ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and of “The Public Works Act, 1905.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Borough of Onslow proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, to execute a certain public work—namely, the construction of waterworks at Khandallah for the supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough—and for the purpose of such public work the lands described in the Schedule below are required to be taken. And notice is hereby given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Borough offices, Ballance Street, Wellington, and is open for inspection without fee by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Town Clerk, Borough of Onslow Office, Wellington.

SCHOOL FOR DEAF-MUTES, SUMNER, NEAR CHRISTCHURCH.

Under the control and supervision of the Education Department.

Director: MR. J. E. STEVENS.

FOR Deaf Children of sound intellect. The pupils are taught to use and understand ordinary speech. The full charge for board and education is £40 a year, but less is accepted from parents who cannot afford to pay this amount. In case of necessity admission is free.

By the Education Act, the education of deaf children between the ages of 7 and 16 is made compulsory. A child is, as a rule, best fitted to begin the school course at about the age of 6, but advice should be obtained as soon as any sign of deafness is observed.

The following classes of deaf children are admitted:

  1. Children born deaf, or who have lost their hearing before learning to speak.
  2. Children who can hear a little, but are too deaf to be taught in an ordinary school.
  3. Children who have lost their hearing after having learned to speak.

Parents and other persons acquainted with such cases above the age of 4 are invited to communicate with the Director, or with
