NOTICE is hereby given that, the leases or licenses of the undermentioned lands having been forfeited by resolution of the Southland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Rural Land in Nelson Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 240 of “The Land Act, 1892,” that the undermentioned land will be open for selection on lease in perpetuity, at this office, on Thursday, the 12th day of December, 1907, under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Bush and Swamp Crown Lands Settlement Act, 1903.”

If more than one application is received for the same land on the same day, the order of selection shall be decided by ballot.

Situated about three-quarters of a mile from Longford Post-office and telegraph-station, and about 10 chains off the main coach-road, Nelson to Westport. Portion of the block known as the Matiri Valley Block. Open, forest-clad land, the timber being brown-birch and silver-birch not suitable for milling. Formation, sandstone and conglomerate. Soil is very fair, and well watered. Northern and western portions of the area lie well to the sun, and when cleared will carry good grass.

Lands in Rangipo North State Forest Reserve, Wellington Land District, for Lease by Public Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned State forest reserve will be offered for lease by public auction, for a term of twenty-one years, at the District Lands Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, the 23rd day of October, 1907, at 11 o'clock a.m., under the provisions of section 232 of “The Land Act, 1892.”

This area is situated on the Tokaanu-Waiouru Road, between Ruapehu and Tongariro Mountains on the west, the Waikato River on the east and south, and the Poutu River on the north. It lies about fourteen miles north of Waiouru and about eight miles south of Lake Taupo, and comprises mostly flats and easy rolling country, intersected by numerous fairly large streams running from the mountains into the Waikato River. There is an area of 6,000 acres (approximately) of bush country, the remainder is covered with snow-grass, tussock, fern, and stunted manuka in places, with the usual native grasses found at high altitudes. The elevation ranges from about 1,500ft. to 5,000ft. above sea-level, about 35,000 acres being above 3,000ft. The soil is pumiceous and of inferior quality.

CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. A deposit of one half-year's rent at the rate offered and £1 1s. lease fee must be made on the fall of the hammer.

  2. The lessee shall have only the right to use the open land comprised in the lease for grazing purposes.

  3. The lessee shall have no right to fell or remove from the land any live or dead trees or timber, whether standing or lying on the ground, nor shall he have the right to cut or remove any flax growing thereon.

  4. All persons duly authorised in that behalf shall have free right of ingress, egress, and regress for any of the purposes of “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885,” or for felling or removing from the land any trees or timber, or for cutting and removing flax.

  5. The lessee shall have no claim for compensation for improvements at any time, but at the expiration of his lease may remove all fencing and buildings erected by him on the land.

  6. The Commissioner of State Forests may issue licenses at any time during the currency of grazing-lease to the lessee or other persons to cut and remove either standing or felled timber under the State Forest Regulations, or to cut and remove flax, without the payment of compensation to the lessee.
