Vesting Control of the Kokatahi Bridge and Approaches in Westland County Council.

PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and nineteen of “The Public Works Act, 1905” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Warrant publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Warrant; and may by any such Warrant as aforesaid fix and determine whether all or any, and if so what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what local authority or authorities; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid direct how, when, and to whom any such payment is to be made:
And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the said bridge, together with the approaches thereto, as described in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Kokatahi Bridge, shall, from and after the date of this Warrant, be under the exclusive care and control and management of the Westland County Council; and, in further pursuance and exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge, with the approaches thereto, is to be provided and paid by the Westland County Council out of the funds of the said Council.

SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Kokatahi River and known as the Kokatahi Bridge, in the Westland Land District; as the site of the said bridge, together with the approaches thereto for 2 chains at each end of the bridge, is delineated on the plan marked R. 1433, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

Regulations of Defence Forces amended.

PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke and amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, such of the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date (including all amendments of such General Regulations made prior to the date hereof), as are set forth in the said Schedule; and I do hereby declare that such revocations shall take effect, and such amendments and substituted regulation shall come into force, on the sixteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and seven.

AMENDMENTS OF REGULATIONS.

REGULATION 106.—Omit the words “O.C. District” at the end of the regulation, and substitute therefor the words “Central Board of Examination.”

Regulation 367.—After the words “daylight parades,” insert “These parades must not be held on Sunday.”

Regulation 371.—After the words “camp of instruction,” add “or on Sundays.”

Regulation 414, with its amendments, is hereby revoked, and the following substituted in lieu thereof:—
Garrison Artillery Volunteers.
Regulation 414.—Non-commissioned officers and men who pass a qualifying examination as hereinafter mentioned shall be awarded a certificate of qualification, and a special badge, which they will be entitled to wear for one year.
Section I (Gunnery).—Non-commissioned officers and men who qualify in gunnery shall each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum and be awarded a certificate of qualification and a special badge, provided they pass an examination in the subjects laid down from time to time in “Instructions for Practice.”
Section II (Gun-laying).—Non-commissioned officers and men who hold certificates for gunnery for the current year shall each be awarded a certificate and a special badge, provided they pass the qualifying examination in gun-laying as laid down from time to time in “Instructions for Practice.” The most proficient of the qualified gun-layers, up to 12 per cent. of the strength of the company, shall, in addition, each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum.
Section III (Range-finding).—Non-commissioned officers and men who pass a qualifying examination in range-finding in accordance with the syllabus laid down from time to time in “Instructions for Practice” shall each be awarded a certificate of qualification and a special badge. The most proficient non-commissioned officers and men qualifying in range-finding, up to 12 per cent. of the strength of the company, shall, in addition, each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum.
Section IV (Signalling).—Non-commissioned officers and men who pass a qualifying examination in signalling in accordance with the syllabus laid down from time to time by the Director of Artillery Services shall each be awarded a certificate of qualification and a special badge. The eight most proficient non-commissioned officers and men of the qualified signallers in each company shall, in addition, each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum.
Section V (Electric Lighting).—(a.) Engine-driving: Non-commissioned officers and men of the electric-lighting section who pass a qualifying examination in engine-driving in accordance with the syllabus laid down from time to time shall each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum and be awarded a certificate of qualification and a special badge.
(b.) Electricity: Non-commissioned officers and men of the electric-lighting section who pass a qualifying examination in electricity in accordance with the syllabus laid down from time to time shall each receive a personal payment of £1 per annum and be awarded a certificate of qualification and a special badge.
Non-commissioned officers and men who qualify for personal payments under Sections III, IV, and V shall each receive a further personal payment of £1 per annum if they also qualify for the same year in Section I (Gunnery), but in no case shall a man receive personal payments for qualifying in more than two sections in the same year.
